We chose the hotel because of its cheap price, so we were a bit nervous (especially after reading the bad reviews), but we ended up having a mostly comfortable 2-night stay. The rooms were clean and functional, if a bit worn in places, and all the basic amenities one would expect were provided (free breakfast, internet access, even a decent outdoor pool).
It did take a while to get our room when we first signed in, and the maid was still cleaning it when we opened the door, but I guess it was because the hotel was quite busy that day -- it was fully booked, even in the middle of the week. Overall no major complaints about the hotel itself, and a very good deal for the price.
The one significant downside of the hotel is the distance from the boardwalk. It's in walking distance, certainly, but the walk takes 10-15 minutes and can be unpleasant when you're tired or the weather is bad (also not very convenient when you're going to the beach and need to go back afterward to change, drop off stuff, etc). The location around the hotel is sort of deserted, but when you walk a couple of blocks toward the beach the neighborhood is noticeably improved.
