My friends and I stayed at the Beach Block Quality Inn from Sept24-26. The area that is it located in is about 1.5 blocks from the Boardwalk, and a 10 min walk to the Trump Taj Mahal. The Location is ok, not in the best neighborhood, but still tolerable. If you know A.C. then you know how the areas near the casinos are interspersed with run down homes/projects and vacant lots. Its hard to avoid these sites in AC, but probably can be acheived if you stay in a hotel that is on the Boardwalk itself.
The rooms were ok. We stayed on the 16th Floor and the elevators are slow and smelly. There is no lock on the bathroom door, and beds are very soft and uncomfortable. The sheets, although they looked like they had been changed, did not smell very good and had many noticeable stains. There was no clock in the room. The 25 inch TV did work and a remote was present. The walls are very THIN. you can hear everything in the hall. people walking and talking loud. There were a lot of loud drunk people making noise throughout the night. I guess this can be expected in AC, but I didnt think it would be so bad.
The worst part is that my cell phone was stolen out of the room. I dont know by who, but the maids seemed to leave the doors open while they were elsewhere, and not in the room. My cell phone was in my backpack and was stolen from the backpack. I reported it to the manager and he deducted $100 from the bill. i guess that was nice, but it did not make me feel that secure. I probabbly would not stay there again, and pay extra for a room in a nicer hotel just for peace of mind..
