My wife and I just stayed at the Hampton Inn Bayside for one night over this past weekend. I must admit that I had some trepidation in making this reservation after reading all of the reviews. They were quite mixed to say the least. However, after an exhaustive look at all the hotel and motel reviews, I could not find any without a blemish. Since we stayed on a Saturday night, I was not interested in paying a huge premium to stay downtown or at one of the casino properties. The basic criteria on my list included cleanliness, price, and promixity to the casinos.
The Hampton Inn satisfied all of our requirements. While it is not in a lovely neighborhood, there is nothing inherently bad about the neighborhood either. The hotel lobby was clean as was our room. We found no evidence of dirty carpets, dirty sheets or towels, poor HVAC, etc. While not 4 star quality, everything seemed fine for our purposes. The location is convenient to the casinos and the Hampton offers a taxi service for $7 one way for those who prefer not to drive. The breakfast buffet was adequate. While billed as a "hot buffet", the eggs were pretty awful and sausage a bit overcooked. Everything else was fine. In summary, the Hampton Inn Bayside offers good value for the location and we would stay there again.
