Made a short trip this time around to AC and just stayed one (Sunday) night; picking Caesars this time around out from the various Harrah's properties. As a Platinum member, I was comped for my stay in the Centurian Tower. With it being Sunday and the fact that I had arrived at 1:00 pm and knowing the Saturday crowd were leaving, I suspected I'd have to wait for my room after checking in; so got my room at 4:30 pm. Very nice bright, pleasant hallway (huge difference from their Temple Tower), nice clean room, large bathroom with great showerhead and large, soft towels, and bath accessories. BTW, you can control the Heat/AC in the Centurian; the unit's panel on the wall has a small door you can flip open by pressing the top of it inward with your fingers to reach the controls. Decided to do dinner at Philips in the Pier Shops across from Ceasars; food and service was good but far overpriced and the place is hyped up too much for what you get on your plate. Monday, I walked off the boardwalk out to White House Sub shop to grab me an Italian Special to take home later. AC still has a certain bit of charm about it, even with it's oldish look. Though AC has that "Bumish" look, I think if your cautious and keep an open eye, nobody bothers you; sometimes you even run into people that out of the blue will talk to you (a stranger) and make you chuckle. Beware of the hefty Nuisance/Disgraceful Tax (a NJ? or Local AC? tax) on your Room and Meals which is in addition to the NJ Sales Tax...seems both taxes account for 1/4+ of your costs...which is a bit of a turnoff (considering the casino competition in DE/PA/WVA/CT and Las Vegas)...especially if AC wants to draw visitors/players into town. Vegas takes much more pride in the Casino/Hotel service sector and it's food than AC; if AC polished up it's act, AC would be a far greater place to play/hang/do business with...because as I said, it still has that old world/tradition-like charm about it (I'm coming back for 4 Comped NTS over the Weekend in July).
