My boyfriend and I were planning a trip to AC for the night. It was last minute, but we wanted reservations at a hotel before we left. It was a Saturday night, so almost all the major casino's were priced in the 250-500s. I came across the Surfside Resort Hotel, but 'resort' it is not. I looked at the pictures on the website, which appeared nice and cozy. They offered a romanitc package for 200 per person for the night, which include a deluxe room, king sized bed, whirlpool tub, bottle of red wine upon arrival and couple massages in the comfort of your hotel room. We didn't choose that route, and ended up paying 130 for a king sized bed room. Upon arrival the hotel was deserted, and it was almost 8:00PM. The inside of the hotel looked NOTHING like the pictures. At check in, the printer broke, and it took about 20 minutes to fix. Once fixed, we had to sign a relase stating, among other things, that we could not complain about noise, as some of the rooms were subject to loud noise. My boyfriend ran out to the car while I was inside checking-in, when he was approached by a prostitute in the parking lot. Our room was on the 3rd floor, with an outside and inside entrance. Our balcony overlooked the pool, which was closed, although advertised on the website as open and heated and the entrance to the club. The door to the outside enterance had blinds, which were completly crumpled and torn. The room was somewhat bareable, we kept it as we were going to be in the casino's for most of the time. The floor was disgusting, and we did not put our barefeet on it. My boyfriend attempted to take a shower (with sandals on), but halfway through his shower, we lost all cold water. I went down to the front desk, who were not apologetic at all. It took about 20 minutes for them to fix the problem. One employee actually told me to sue. My boyfriend actually has burn marks from the scolding hot water. After gambling we returned to the hotel. We were aware that there was an after hours club, which actually was a reason that we chose the hotel. We went to the club. If you are homophobic, stay away. About half of the people in the club were gay or transvestite. We had no problems with that, and went into the club, which was extremely small and grungy. They played techno and most of the people were dancing, the music was extremely loud. We sat at the bar, and were the only ones ordering any alcohol. They sold bottled water for $5, which seemed to be the most popular choice. The bartenders were horrible, not sure if they actually knew how to bartend (and I am a bartender). We went to the room at about 4:00PM. We could hear the music loud and clear, until 9:00AM.
Needless to say, we were out of the hotel way before check out time.
To sum it up, the hotel was horrible. DO NOT go by the pictures, which look nothing like the hotel. If you are a bargian hunter for hotel rooms, some of the rooms are bareable, but borderline disgusting, and I am a bargain hunter. The employees are rude, and do not care about their customers. And as someone said in a previous review, the 'No Refund' sign says it all...
