“Perfect stay in Cuzco”

Piccola Locanda

5 of 5 stars
Sydney, Australia
Mar 22, 2008

If you want a hotel with charm, personality, friendly staff and great location in Cuzco, this is fantastic! The hotel is half-way up some quite steep stairs. Had we known that, we would have asked the driver to take us to the top. Unfortunately we had to climb them, with our luggage and short of breath because of the altitude. However, once we got there, it was definitely worth the effort. We got the room Nguyen for the first night, great view over the city, 2 beds, shared bathroom. If you're on a budget, that's OK. We then went to the room Cecilia, with a double bed, onsuite bathroom and an incredible view over Cuzco, plaza de armas, cathedral, etc.
The staff were very friendly, the [included] breakfast was substantial, the place is clean and, as I said, full of charm. If you're not tight with money and have a strong heart to climb up the stairs, worth staying there.

“Loved it!”

Piccola Locanda

Feb 4, 2008

I arrived in Cusco with a friend on the Dec 31st 2007. The hotel had a driver waiting for us to drive us to the hotel. The hotel is a short walk from the main square, approx 2/3 blocks. We had chosen the Noe room which has a bunk bed and a private bathroom. The room looks onto the indoor courtyard. It's next to the kitchen which wasn't a problem unless you are planning on sleeping in - you could hear the blender :). The breakfast consisted of the usual tea, coffee, bread, etc, but with fresh juice (thus the blender) local cheeses, avocado, ham, and homemade cookies, wich were yummy! We didn't get to try the restaurant, but the night we came in from Machu Picchu and the kitchen was already closed they gave us two big plates of spaguetti and meat sauce which hit the spot!
The hotel has free internet, a tv room with dvds, a fully-equipped kitchen for guests to use and a lovely terrace on the top floor with an excellent view of cusco. I would definitely recommend it. It's not fancy but its nice and clean and the people were very friendly!

“Perfect cosy family hostel”

This was a breath of fresh air in disorganised and unperfect Peru. The owners were quick at replying to my reservation and query emails, in 4 languages! I had booked two rooms: Matteo for me and my 2 friends and another double, Nguyen, for my parents. The hotel picked us up at the airport at just a few hours interval, like planned.

The inside of the place is colourful, warm and welcoming, with brightly painted walls and a quaint moroccan style sitting corner and an open fire chimney in the reception / common area. The rooms were exactly like the photos and descriptions of the website, with soap and towels provided.

The next morning, us youngsters left at 6am for Aguas Calientes, with the packed breakfasts I had asked for the night before (these included a couple of mini-cupcakes, a fruit juice, a pack of Club Social crackers and a granola bar).

The beds were very comfy, with plenty (8!) layers of covers, hot water in the shower, free internet (from 8.30am to 9.30pm (to avoid disturbing guests' rest), breakfast in the hotel's restaurant with homemade biscuits, bread, cheese, ham, jam, coffee, tea and juice.

The view from the cosy roof terrace has a marvellous view of the Plaza de Armas. The whole hotel as a warm family atmosphere and the staff is friendly and the the location is perfect. I really loved it and so did my firends and parents. We wouldn't hesitate to come back to fabulous Piccola Locanda.

Absolutely brilliant place to stay, I highly recommend it to any traveller on any type of trip. Great, friendly staff, perfect location with amazing views of classic Cusco. Beautiful terrace style building with gorgeous interior furnishings. I can’t say enough nice things about this place. Great breakfast!!! I have visited 6 continents and over 30 countries, and this is one of the nicest places I’ve stayed in. Extremely cheap too!!! Thank you Piccola Locanda for a great time.

“Fantastic place to stay!”

Although the Piccola Locanda is classed as a hostel, I would have to disagree – as I've never stayed in such a 'nice' hostel before!
Me and my partner stayed there for a total of four nights in the Luna room which has a double bed and private balcony with amazing views of Cusco.
It was located only 5 minutes walk (although be warned there are a lot of steps) from the Plaza de Armas with its abundance of cafes, bars and restaurants.
Breakfast was included, plus free internet and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.
