We are frequent travelers to Hong Kong and have been there at least 12 times before. This time we were in Hong Kong for three nights on a stopover.
We usually stay at the YMCA Salisbury, but wanted a slightly bigger room for a comparable price.
The Metropark Kowloon has much larger rooms than the average hotel in Kowloon (and for this price). We stayed on the 18th floor, and although the furnishings were a bit on the tired side, everything was clean and comfortable.
We liked that the hotel was not right in the centre of TST, where all the tourists usually like to hang. I don't understand all the comments about the hotel being out of the way, with the MTR and buses being so quick, efficient, and air-conditioned, it really wasn't all that difficult getting around.
We never took the complimentary hotel shuttle. Instead, we took the 7 and 271 bus to TST whenever we wanted to get the ferry to the Island.
We were quite happy to eat and explore around the neighbourhood as well.
You get a copy of the South China Morning Post every morning.
I cannot comment on the restaurants, gym, nor swimming pool, as we didn't use them.
All the staff were professional and pleasant.
The only niggle was that on the last night, we could hear our neighbours talking quite loudly. I don't know if this is because the walls are thin, or the people next door were extra shouty.
Still, I would definitely stay here again.
