We absolutely loved the Intercontinental Grand Stanford hotel. We stayed there for five nights on our way back from Italy to Australia. The room was very comfortable, the service superb and we were completely delighted with the view from our harbour view room which kept us entertained at all times with all sorts of ships and boats coming and going.
A number of posters have mentioned the fact that the hotel is a distance away from the main shopping areas of Kowloon and I was doubtful about staying in this area because I thought it may be a bit far from the main action around Nathan Road. Boy did I change my mind once I arrived at the Intercontinental Grand Stanford! It is an easy walk to Nathan Road, about ten minutes, but let me tell you, Nathan Road has become nothing but a haven for touts selling suits, massages, hair salons etc. which really starts to get on your nerves very quickly! It also becomes choked with people towards the later part of the day so the relatively peaceful area around the hotel is a welcome haven. I think it would drive me insane to stay in central Kowloon nowthat I have stayed in East Tsim Sha Tsui. The area in which the Intercontinental Grand Stanford sits is more "local" and peaceful with mostly Hong Kong people going about their business. There is also shopping for everybody in this area as well as reasonably priced restaurants as well as upmarket ones in the Tsim Sha Tsui Centre. The New World Centre is close by as is Sogo Department store. If you want to shop in central Kowloon, the hotel has a free shuttle bus which will drop you there. The Star ferry is a 15 minute walk along the harbour promenade which is really pleasant also.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anybody.
