“Relaxing and enjoyable”

Pacific Club Resort

4 of 5 stars
Athens, Greece
May 5, 2008

I have just returned from 10 days in Thailand and Malaysia. I had never been before and so had to rely heavily on Trip advisor for tips and reviews regarding accommodation.

I have to say that this particular hotel stood out and I'm certainly glad I chose to experience Phuket from this location.

The hotel is off the beaten track and surrounded by jungle which is really overwhelmingly beautiful. The pool on the top floor is magnificent with beautifully maintained gardens. (see pictures).

I don't usually eat at hotels but this was an exception. The food was excellent. It was well presented there was fresh salad and I really adored the Thai steak a speciality accompanied with vegetables, rice and very fresh salad from the buffet. I really want to thank the lady who took my orders there. She was so polite and hospitable and couldn't do enough. Even the dog Ruscoe was friendly.

This place is run on the concept of love and you will see this when you visit.

I do, however have some criticism which I'm sure "Uncle Eric" will appreciate. To begin with, I asked for an executive room as I had to work for a few hours each day. The wireless internet was very unreliable. This meant that I wasted a lot of time going backwards and forwards to reception and phoning them up. I asked if I could connect via cable but they didn't have one to give me. (I should have brought my own). Secondly, the phone card was a mystery and nobody told me until the last day that you don't add international dialling codes when you use it. I ended
up having to use my greek mobile to make some important phone calls which was such a waste. Finally, I had ordered a motorbike when I booked through the site and there wasn't one available. I had made the reservation about 3 weeks before and I would have appreciated having one ready for me on arrival. The receptionist told me they would have one the next day but couldn't tell me when. So I had to go into town and find one.

The above may sound like small details but they do make a difference if you only have a few days to spend and want to make the most of your time. It's just some constructive criticism that can help improve your hotel even more.

Nevertheless, well done and overall it was a super special place that I would definitely return to and recommend to my best friend.

Kind regards to all....John from Athens Greece

This is an updated managerial reply to reflect changes we've made since I previously investigated this customer's constructive criticism. We have found a new ISP and upgraded our Wi-Fi internet system to have two new faster redundant Fiber Optic ISP links, the main is 6 Mbps and the backup is 3 Mbps (compared to 1 Mbps main and 256 kbps backup before), the new quality of service compares to that available in the US and was just made available in Thailand. We are the first to get it in Phuket and our service should now once again shine brightly compared to any internet service in the world. Also, our service is still available at the incredibly inexpensive price of 6 USD/day or 20 USD / Week. We do take business services very seriously :)

Excerpts from my previous response:

Dear GreekBrit, Thanks for all of the kind comments, as well as Thanks for posting photos. And regarding your issues, I would like to say 'Thank You' for bringing these things up. That's why I am responding to you within 4 hours of your review being posted, we are online and watching all the time.

Second, on the phones, for readers who haven't been here, we allow FREE direct dial access to all credit card and toll free numbers from Pacific Club (that includes 800, 999, 888, and 108 prefix numbers). Other hotels charge between 4-8 dollars per toll free connection or 2-6 dollars per minute for direct overseas dial. Your complication appears to have been solved when you contacted reception for more detailed instructions on how to use the cards we sell, but for other folks please note that information is also in the guest services directory found in every room. Our system saves the business traveler lot's of money (only 20 cents a minute with our phonecards) and we have found that aside from the occasional difficulties customers may have everyone is happy. And always ask for help first before getting frustrated, if we can't show you how to use our service within 5 minutes, we'll place the first call for you free of charge up to 5 minutes.

Third, my sincere apologies about your motorbike rental. It was our mistake and I can guarantee that nobody will have that problem again or we will dedicate our limo driver to the customer until we have your motorbike.

Once again Thank you kindly for your comments and we hope to serve you again.

Uncle Eric

Loved to stay 2 weeks at this wonderful hotel in a very quiet location up to the rain forest. The staff in the reception and the restaurant very kind og helpful to arrange good tours to PhangNga Bay, Kao Sok National Park, Phi Phi Islands. Peaceful swimming pool area on the roof with a wonderful view over the sea. Large, clean room with big balcony and good WiFi InterNet connection.

“Just the best accomodation”

We were in Phuket in April. Unfortunately Phuket itself did not live up to all its hype but this resort did! We have to thank all the other contributors for putting us on to it.

We had a 2 br suite which was just an oasis at the end of the day. The suite was brilliant, well air conditioned and very roomy. It had two bathrooms, two bedrooms and three TV's which made the kids happy.

The rooftop pool with its outlook over Karon was just amazing and you could get drinks and food delivered to your table in the pool, yes in the pool!

The hotels restaurant and its sister restaurants in Karon were the best we ate at. We tried others in Karon and they were very disappointing we couldnt find one that was up to the same standard. While in Karon we stuck to Eric's restaurants. Each was a bit different from the other, but always great food and very good service. Wish I could say the same for others in Karon. They even adapted dishes to suit my kids tastes.

No negatives about this resort at all. I had heard others complain of the walk to Karon. We did not find this an issue and if we didnt feel like walking we used the hotel taxi which in most cases was cheaper than the Tuk Tuks on our return trip.

If I had any issues at all, the water pressure in the shower could have been better, but as you can see, this wasnt really an issue!

I would not stay elsewhere in Phuket.

“Terrific place to stay”

Having just returned to the UK from 2 weeks in Thailand, I would like to thoughly recommend this hotel.
It was the perfect placed to unwind after a could of hectic days in Bangkok. Myself and 3 friends spent a week in the Pacific Club and found the staff to be extremely friendly, even in a country full of very friendly people. The location is great, you really get a feeling of being in the tropics and despite other postings regarding a couple of geckos, I personally think they added to whole experience, the place is pretty much in the jungle.
The breakfast was great, i miss the Eggs Benedict of a morning already. We ate at the Karon Cafe also and the steak is deserved of high praise indeed.
I have been back home for 3 days and I am already planning how I can get back to Thailand and the Pacific Club Resort will be my hotel of choice on Phuket for sure.
Cheers,
Michael

“heaven on earth”

If you look for a nice quite place to stay - you found it.
This is a nice small hotel were the staff gives you a feeling of beeing at home. They know your little favorites after a few days and take care of it.
The view from the pool and the rooms is outstanding. Swimming in the pool you have the feeling you could swim right into the ocean (even though it is 15 minutes walk away). Talking of the pool. The water has an execellent quality. It is as smooth as Thai silk. You get out of the water and have a skin as a baby.
The rooms are very clean and furnished with a loving hand. It gives you the feeling of beeing on a honeymoon each day.
The restaurant is outstanding. We had dinner on all six days and every item tasted differently. We always had the feeling it was even better than the day before. You can not top it. The choices are great (californian, tex-mex and Thai) and the prices are great.
We enjoyed the stay at the hotel but we did not really like Karon beach.
The beach is one line with beach chairs (paradise looks different - we would prefer sunroofs with palm leaves), the restaurants and shops are very touristic. You do not see a lot of real Thailand. Maybe because many tourists there do not care for real Thailand.
Therefore we spent a lot of time in the hotel and had a great time anyway.
