“Loved the Park Vue Inn”

Park Vue Inn

I picked this hotel from Expedia and it wasn't rated very high (two & a half stars). We hired a mid sized car from the airport which Hertz upgraded for free so we could get a GPS. There are many freeways criss crossing Los Angeles and you won't get a GPS if you hire the cheapest cars available.

The main office of the Park Vue Inn was being renovated when we arrived late January 2008. They were operating from a aluminium shed but there was always someone there and they were helpful enough.

There was a IHOPS (International House of Pancakes) restuarant right next door. It is open 24 hours but it never disturbs your sleep. The food is very reasonably priced and you can get some great breakfasts. I think it was $6 for all you can eat pancakes.

There was a Tony Romas Famous Ribs restuarant five minutes around the corner. There was no problem buying alcohol as I walked to the little shop in the hotel two doors down. You can by alcohol in every corner shop. I was going to drive to Disneyland (and California land) but they were directly opposite the hotel.

You can see the Hotel of Terror (Disneyland) clearly from the front of the hotel.

The rooms were really spacious and there was a large room heater. We went in winter and the heater was so hot. We parked outside the room and there were a couple of coke machines for my bottles of locally bought Jack Daniels.

The rooms were spacious but also the cleanest we saw in the USA (for the price). My wife cried at other hotels but this one was a pleasure to stay in. There is a shop in the hotel that sells Disneyland clothing but beware.... it is not the same as the stuff in Disneyland. I tried to buy clothing off the internet when we got home but the clothing in Disneyland is exclusive to them (at a premium price of course).

This was one of the few hotels that had free wireless internet. you just rung the front desk and they gave you a username and password. We want to redo our trip one day (it was a bit rushed) and I would love to stay at the Park Vue again. Nothing fancy, but we stayed at a dozen hotels and the Park View was the one of the best value. Really large rooms.

“Great Location for Disneyland”

Park Vue Inn

May 28, 2008

Just returned from a one week stay at the Park Vue Inn. You cannot beat this place for location as it is located on Harbour Boulevard directly across from the entrance to Disneyland. In less than 5 minutes you can be in the park or at Downtown Disney. Many restaurants within easy walking distance as well.

Although it is one of the smaller hotels with only two floors, the rooms are clean and well maintained. Small television, but if you are here for Disney then you are likely to be watching only for weather updates and cartoons in the morning. Our room had a small fridge, microwave and coffee.

We had room 217, which was directly across from the swimming pool. It was nice as it was close to the stair. On one side of our room was the service room for the maids which gave us a neighbor on one side only and made things nice and quiet.

If you are a sleep in type of person, I would not suggest a room on the second floor as kids tend to run down the walkway in the morning to get to the breakfast area as early as 7 am.

There is a small swimming pool located in the center of the parking area. Adequate and refreshing after a long day at the park.

The continental breakfast in the morning was a great way to start the day. Big thick waffles, cold and hot cereals as well as coffee, fresh fruit, juices, toast, donuts, croissants and yogurt.

The front lobby has been newly renovated and now includes a Cold Stone Creamery where you can get ice cream.

Would I come back here again? The answer is YES. The best thing is the location. It was great leaving the park at the end of the day knowing that you only a short distance to return to your room as you watched the crowds form to catch the shuttles buses to their hotels.

Lastly, try Mimi's Restaruant up the street as they have great food.

Hope this helps and enjoy your stay!!!!!

“Better than my sisters!”

Park Vue Inn

May 18, 2008

First the bad.
The hotel has a way of booking that is different than what I am used to. We booked through their website back in feb and as it turns out they only get an approval authorization, rather than actually charging your card. It's a bit of a shock when you think your room is all paid for and then you find out that it isn't, but after several calls to my credit card company I did, indeed, find out my card hadn't been charged in february. My sister also went with us and rented a car and the same way of charging also applied.. so once we figured that out we were OK. Oh, and also when you book through the hotel and you think you have the final fee/bill it says at the bottom tax is not included... so plan for that. The hotel staff/front desk was very patient and helpful as I am sure I annoyed them as they tried to explain this process to me... twice, and then again when I just wanted to "make sure" everything was right. Steller guest service! Oh, and I had no view, But that didn't bother me.
The pool was adequate. We only went in there once, when it was about 85 outside. No joke the pool was probably about 80. It was warm, a few people commented on how too warm the pool was. It was alright for kids to swim in.. once was enough for me. I didn't drive all the way to CA to use the pool, so that didn't bother me.
They are doing construction on the hotels' main lobby. The construction wasn't loud enough to bother anyone (in my opinion) but they did have to shut down the water for approx. three hours. There were noticed posted on every door with more than adequate notice. It was during a time that wouldn't bother most people (b/c they be off in DL), so really it didn't affect us a bit. None of this stuff would discourage me from staying there again. I didn't really even think of it as bad, I'm just filling you in about the entire exp.
Now for the important part. We stayed in a king bedroom w/ spa. LOVED IT! It is a pretty basic hotel. If you want to stay at disneyland hotel, but don't want to spend the extra money and book here instead, spend the extra $$$ and stay at disneyland because you will not be happy. This place was comfortable. We were very concerned about the beds because of medical issues but my husband and I both had a very good nights sleep on the beds. My daughter was going to be sleeping on a ready bed, so I wanted our hotel to be clean (I did my research), and it was. Infact one day we came as the maid was in our room cleaning, she had already made our bed and brought in fresh towels, and we still ended up waiting a half hour to forty-five minutes for her to clean our room (we are very neat and tidy people). I walked around in white slippers and socks in our room and didn't get them dirty at all. However when I walked on the outside walkway my slippers did get dirty (as to be expected). To suggest that the room is dirty not properly clean (I think) is an insult to the housekeeping staff that I watched clean the rooms(withe care) while mine was getting cleaned. Kudos to them for doing a great job!
They have laundry facilities, which was awesome. They have a little on-site store they came in handy when we ran out of toothpaste and I needed to get medicine. Tons of resturants within walking distance including a mcDonalds, Dennys, etc. Two blocks down there is the Cheesecake factory (AWSOME!) and of course disneyland is literally across the street, which is very important when you have a six year old who parties all day in DL and can't "walk another step." Also easy on the budget to bring food in, and pop back in the room for a quick bite to eat then head back to the park. The fireworks were viewable, but not from our room, there is a terrace that you can watch from. Breakfast is awesome, and there were times when we went right at seven, and times when we wandered in about nine or ten and there was always PLENTY of food, as well as variety.. I was impressed there was yougurt... you could also pack a tray with goodies and take it to your room.
Having a in room spa was awesome. I have shoulder problems, and my husband has back problems as well as bone spurs (very painful) and after a long day of walking around we could come back and relax in spa. Get it if you can, it's worth it!
All in all a good, clean, basic hotel. My sister stayed at a different hotel that was further away with the same star rating and hers wasn't half as nice, and they're hotel staff was a bit on the rude side. I would stay here again. I only wrote such a long review because I researched hotels for (literally) about four-six months... so I want to make it easy for someone else.

not as nice as I thought it would be. the best part of this hotel is it close to the gate, the rooms are just ok but dont take off your socks the carpet is filthy, tiny tv, the safe in the room was a joke it was not even bolted to the floor it fell over when I touched it, the breakfast was not to bad you got the normal stuff the only thing when we were ther they had to tar the roof for seval days when we where eating breakfast that was thoughtful smelling tar when your eating. there are better hotels in the area. oh! yea they tried to charge me for A crib when the website said no charge $18 . dont pay $150 rate not worth it. I might stay if I got the $100 rate again.

“Not bad”

Park Vue Inn

3 of 5 stars
Portland, Oregon

We just returned from Disneyland and had stayed 3 nights at the Parkvue inn in a 2 room 3 queen room. I will say that the fact of the hotel being directely across the street is a major plus. It was about 5 mins from our room the gates of both parks. The hotel lobby is still under construction and the office is in a trailer in the parking lot. The room was nothing to write home about but worked for a place to sleep. The beds feel as if they are at the end of good use and are way soft. There was a bit of mold in the bathroom and the room did smell a bit musty if the fan and ac were not running. The staff was nice and took care of what was needed. The way we looked at it we were in Ca to spend time at Disneyand not in the room.

All in all it is a good place for the price and the location. If you want a room that you feel ok walking bare foot on the carpet or laying ontop of the bed I would say avoide this place. But if you want price and location you can't go wrong. Also lots of places to eat up and down Harbor Blvd and the bus is only $1.25 each way per person.

I hope this helps a bit.
