“Decent hotel close to Disneyland”

Park Vue Inn

This is the third hotel we've stayed at near the crosswalk to Disneyland, and it was comparable to the others. Nothing fancy, but a good basic, clean place to sleep within very easy walking distance to the main gates. So much better than staying farther away and dealing with parking and shuttles! Our room had two queens in one room and another queen in a separate bedroom. It was comfortable for our family of six. There was a small fridge and microwave, and there were two tvs and free wifi. Our room was at the back of the property, on the second floor. This is very nice because it's quiet, but it does mean a longer walk to the street, and there is no elevator, so we had to lug all of our bags up the stairs. Also, there was no easy way to get our stroller up the stairs, so we had to empty out the basket and store it in the car every night, which was a pain, especially if it meant having to remove a sleeping child who otherwise would have continued to nap. For that reason alone, I would request a ground-floor room if we stayed there again.

The breakfast was quite good; of the three hotels we've stayed at, I think this breakfast was the best, with the Park Place Inn a close second, and the Desert Inn a distant third (which has a terrible breakfast and ugly rooms, but is spacious with good rates). The laundry room was convenient, although we ended up with unidentified black streaks on our white clothes; maybe someone left a crayon in the machine, or something. I don't know.

The beds are very hard. Even my kids, who usually can sleep anywhere, complained about their backs hurting. There were a few minor problems with the room: the plug in the tub didn't work, so the water wouldn't stay in the tub, which meant giving the young kids showers instead of baths. The stopper in the sink didn't work either. The air conditioning unit is in the wall by the bathroom, so the tile floor in there is ice cold all the time, even if the rest of the room is still too hot.

The pool was nice to have, although it is in the middle of the parking lot. It's planted around so there is some privacy and shade. It drops off quite suddenly, though, so there's not much of a shallow end for little kids, so be careful.

Overall, I'd stay here again if they gave me the best deal again. We are only in the room to sleep, so we don't require luxury accomodations. Softer beds would be nice, though!

“Mixed Bag...”

I booked and pre-paid a 2-queen room for 2 nights through Hotels.com. When we arrived, I was told that we could only have a 2Q for one night, and that we would have to move into a 1Q + bunk beds for the second night. I couldn't have either for both nights...we're sorry. I called Hotels.com to express my annoyance at not getting what I'd paid for. They said they'd never heard of such a thing and called the hotel themselves. Seems that the hotel had no other room available for either night, and since I hadn't booked through them, I was the lucky one to get "bumped". Hotels.com gave me a twenty dollar per night credit, but Park Vue gave me nothing. Okay, not a good start, but we were on vacation, so we'd make the best of it, although some sort of compensation or at least acknowledgement from the hotel would've been appropriate. This gave me a chance to see both sides of the mixed reviews I'd seen...
Night 1: we were given room 242, a 2-queen at the back of the property. By the room were palm trees and roses, and the room was spacious and QUIET. We were quite pleased.
Night 2: we were moved to room 216, which was toward the front of the property. This room overlooks the parking lot and the IHOP, with no building shielding it from the street noise. Therefore, we heard the patrons leaving the restaurant, the motels guests who were having a smoke in the parking lot (no smoking allowed in rooms), the street traffic, even freight trains in the distance. Quite the opposite of the prior night! When we'd first opened the door, the room smelled quite musty, and several other rooms along that stretch also smelled musty when I passed by to go to breakfast (the staff were cleaning, so the doors were opened). Running the a/c with the windows opened cleared out the odor, but we weren't comfortable sleeping with the windows opened, so our stuff picked up the smell. The one great thing about this room was that we just opened our curtains and sat on the bed to watch the fireworks that night. Perfect view!
The continental breakfast was adequate - toast your own bread or waffles, croissants, cereal, yogurt, donuts, tea, coffee...would've loved some protein, but it served the purpose and save us some money. Beds were comfortable, housekeeping and maintainance were friendly. The desk personnel seemed rather robotic - couldn't explain the mixup beyond an insincere "sorry". And for what it's worth, as I was picking up the new keys for our second night, a guest was at the desk on her cell phone, yelling at her travel agent. Seems she'd booked and prepaid a living-room suite for 7 nights, but only got it for nights 1,5, 6, and 7 - they had to change rooms for nights 2-4, because the hotel had booked the suite to someone else. I guess the lesson is that you have to book directly with the hotel, or at least call and verify that you will get the room you've booked.
Perhaps it was just a coincidence...
We would stay again, as long as we know we will get a 2Q in the back. We really liked that room, and the location of this hotel cannot be beaten. I do hope that they get their act together as far as their reservations go!

This motel is directly across from the entrance to the parks!
The room we stayed in was a good size, with a king size bed, a fridge, microwave and a safe.
They provided a nice welcome basket on arrival, which included a bottle of wine, two bottles of water and some fresh fruit. Very handy!
Room service was pretty good. Some times they'd be really early and some times they were really late. But usually they were pretty good.
The reception was undergoing some construction while we where there, but it didn't really affect us.
We would deffinately stay here again.
Great price, and it's SO close!

“good location, ok rooms”

Park Vue Inn

We stayed at the Park Vue Inn in March for a last minute trip to Disneyland. Since we booked last minute, there were very few hotels available and we chose the Park Vue because of its location. We are annual passholders that normally like to stay at one of the Disney hotels, but since it was last minute there were no rooms available at an affordable rate. Usually we will get discounted rates for being passholders.

One good thing about the Park Vue Inn was its location. You are directly across the street from the sidewalk entrance to the park. It took us about 5 minutes to walk to the turnstiles of Disneyland with our two kids, ages 3 and 6. The room itself was ok. The bathroom looked like it had been renovated, and there was a fruit and wine basket left for us when we arrived in our room with a personalized letter welcoming us to the Inn. This was a nice touch that I believe was added because of the construction to the main lobby/office area. Overall the room was clean with the exception of the carpet. After walking around the room for about an hour, the bottoms of my kids socks were black. The beds were ok, the pillows were awful. I would definitely recommend bringing a pillow with you.

I won't say that we will never stay here again, but it is doubtful. I guess if we were in the same situation and needed a place last minute with not much else to choose from, we would stay here. Hopefully when the construction is done with the front of the hotel, they will concentrate on the rooms and clean all of the carpets.

I forgot to mention that they have a pretty good continental breakfast included and the staff was helpful and friendly.

“Great Stay”

Park Vue Inn

If you are looking for a basic hotel with no thrills, this is the place. Just a nice basic family place to stay with an easy walk to Disneyland. The kids loved the bunk beds and the night lights on each bunk were a nice touch. Free internet access was nice. If you need a lot of space, brand new towels and sheets, a water slide, etc, find a five star hotel. The hotel is a little damp. The hot water at times may take up to 4 mins to get to your shower. Just let it run and wait. Again, you get what you pay for. We did not have any issues with noise on the second floor. In fact, we did not hear anything outside of our room (except the fireworks at 9:30 each night). The pool does what a pool should do, get you wet and cool you down. (Is it really supposed to be 85 in March?). The breakfast was a nice bonus. Plenty of food. We arrived right a 7:00 and had the place to ourselves. One day we waited until 8:00. Pretty crowded but still plenty of food. After staying here for 7 nights, I have to conclude that if you have realistic expectations, you will enjoy your stay at the Park Vue Inn.
One last thing. I found a software program that made our spring break experience at Disneyland a dream. Contact me if you want to know what it is.
