We spent Mother's Day weekend at the Annabella. The hotel is only half a mile from Downtown Disney, the location couldn't get better (taking into consideration the price). We paid $119.00/night and slept 5 people in our room (1 kiddo 4 adults). The Upgraded rooms (the ones shown in the pictures on the website) are very nice. We stayed in the layout that had a King Bed, a Double Bed in an L shaped alcove and a couch that actually has a pull out twin in it.
When we first checked in, having booked this style of room, they "upgraded" us and it was a dive of a room with a twin bed and a really small room, but we went back to the lobby and requested the room we paid for. They were a little snotty and said we would no longer be able to have the free continental breakfast, but we didn't care. We wanted the beds. We checked into our room (yes, you do have to put your key in to keep the lights and air on, however our regulator was not working so we didn't have to do that).
The best part of the hotel for us was the room layout and the location. It was right next door to Tiffy's so we were able to eat breakfast and dinner there on alternating nights and then breakfast at Cocos (beware, the breakfast buffet at Coco's does not start on time sometimes). It served well for our tired fees and hungry bellies. We saved a lot of money in the park by being close. We did not have to pay for the shuttle although, they are right by a shuttle stop if you want to come in that entrance.
Our room was clean with upgraded furntiure and the windows opened which is nice for a fresh breeze. The bathrooms looked like they had been rennovated as said since they had granite. There was a small fridge for our use. However, if you pull out the twin couch bed, you cannot open the fridge or exit the door. We ended up pulling the cushions off the couch and putting my toddler on the floor next to us since we didn't really like blocking the path to the door for the other adults that were staying with us. We were able to turn the TV to face either bed so that worked okay.
Bathroom was fairly large and the vanity area was outside of it in a little hallway which worked well if one of the couples was changing then the person in the bathroom did not walk in on them since there was a hallway first into the bathroom/closet area.
Stairwells were outdoors and some people left some pretty disgusting things on the balcony (e.g. diapers), but the plus side was you could see the Dland fireworks from the balcony outside your room.
The grounds were well kept and a nice respite from the hustle of Disneyland. The staff was unfriendly at first, but once we were checked in things were fine. We were given directions around the campus by maintenance staff, another member of our partie's room was upgraded and they ended up with a flat screen TV in their room and wood flooring. It seems like all the rooms are a little differnet so if you know the layout in advance it's probably better. We were in the 2100 block and our other party was in the 6100 block and both were nice.
I reccommend the hotel itself for So Cal locals that just need somewhere to sleep and want to be close to the park. If you're visiting, spend the extra money on the Dland hotel and be close to the park. It can be exhausting walking back and forth, but if you take the monorail from Downtown Disney it works well so you can hop right onto Nemo in the morning.
