“Good location, nice hotel”

Four Points by Sheraton Darling Harbour

4 of 5 stars
Dublin, Ireland
Feb 15, 2008

Really nice hotel, within walking distance (if you are pretty active and like to hoof it around to see the sites, which we found very enjoyable) of all the main sites in Sydney. Good service, great view, our room was an executive harbour view and I think it was worth the upgrade, although the balcony didn't have any furniture on it and is suspended above a busy road. The room itself was spacious and well equipped, great mini bar, very very small bathroom. Darling Harbour is a really good location for just wandering around people watching, lots of restaurants and places you can just sit and have a drink. It's quite contained as well so if you're tired after a days sightseeing you've got a lot of choice with not too much walking.

“Nice location and proximity to Darling Harbour”

For our 5 night stay, we have asked for a so called ‚Superior Harbour View room’ (non-smoking, at a higher level). On checking, the initial room (3 beds, although asked for twin beds, and not cleaned, and the room at low level only, etc.) itself had practically no harbour view - only that of the Aquarium roof and main road below. We refused to take this room… and finally (waiting patiently over three hours) we have got a nicer room and also situated at a higher level, as booked.
The best asset of this hotel is its location, its proximity to Darling Harbour and nearby shopping malls, but the hotel is somewhat 'tired' in decor and outfit. The windows are sound-proof (mainly in view of the traffic of some importance), and the beds are good.
The internet (wireless) at the lobby is properly working and free of charge (the broadband access in rooms is too expensive).
Difficult to say if we would stay there again. Maybe we shall try next time another hotel (the Darling Harbour view is 'nice to have' but not a 'must'). From our understanding, there might be other options in the inner city (and less expensive ones).

“Good location, but tired...”

Four Points by Sheraton Darling Harbour

On checking in for our 5 night stay, we found we'd been allocated a SMOKING floor and a so called Superior Harbour View room, for which we had paid the extra to upgrade. No other SHV room was available on non smoking, so we agreed to stay 1 night in this room and move to a 'better' superior room for the remaining nights. The initial room itself had practically no harbour view - only that of the Aquarium roof and the room was small - couldn't fully open the fridge door due to location of fridge to bed, the bathroom sink tap didn't work properly and the vanity mirror was missing altogether.
The remainder of our stay improved with a better quality room...interestingly our package was booked as 4 nights and get one free!!!
The best asset of this hotel, is its location and proximity to Darling Harbour and nearby shopping malls, but the hotel seemed somewhat 'tired' in decor. It never ceases to amaze me that hotels such as the Sheraton only every offer 1 luggage stand, when most often than not, 2 people travelling each have a case??!!!

Four Points is in a fantastic location, walking distance to restaurants at the Darling Harbour and main shopping strip around QVB. Huge hotel with friendly enough staff but nothing really special nor leave a lasting impression. Get a harbour facing room for a great view.

“Loved Darling Harbour & The Sheraton”

Four Points by Sheraton Darling Harbour

First time in Sydney we booked this hotel through Trailfinders as it was a half decent price over the new year period.

Located right next to Darling Harbour we loved the location. Lots of lovely restaurants and bars in the harbour to enjoy for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is also where the aquarium and the wildlife centre is located. You can also get ferries from Darling Harbour to Circular Quay. If we returned to Sydney we would stay in Darling Harbour again, just a great atmosphere. Our NYE cruise also left from King ST Wharf just 5 mins from the hotel - handy!

Our room had a view out over the harbour, was a good size and nice decor. The bathroom was a little dated but nothing to be concerned about. We found that the corridors looked really dated and we missed having a pool which would be the only thing to make us stay elsewhere. We ate buffet breakfast on our last day and thought it was very very good, loads of choice and hot. Although i'd say b&b probably not worth it when so many restaurants nearby.

We enjoyed Sydney and the NYE experience will last a life time. This hotel was lovely and we would happily stay here again, if they added a small pool then it really would be a wonderful hotel.
