The hotels website may possibly give thier rooms a maybe "nicer than in person perspective" but they are very spacious and clean and even though photos may change the appaerance a little, who's not to expect that from a hotels own website?

Breakfast is a must... deffiantly opt for it on choice of being included in room rate! both continental and fully cooked breakfast, the all you can eat spread provides something for everyone. delicious!

Very good location for the war memorial. walking distance infact, although we did not know this and drove regardless!
generally a nice and comfortable hotel. not for those looking for something extrmely extravagant, but for above average expectations it will suit fine!

I would give it a 3 and a half/4 stars.

I stayed in a heritage room, and it was small. It was comfortable and safe and clean though. However, my second night of my stay there was a huge party going on in the garden, and it was so loud it sounded like the people were in my room for a while. Reception said/did nothing about this. Otherwise, they were great. It's about a 10 min hike to the centre of the city, which is fine. However, there is absolutely nothing right around the hotel. Other hotels in the city seemed alot nicer, and would probably stay there in future. However, for what you pay, Olims is alright :)

Ok, so the hotel was a little old and worn. Our room was a cheaper one in the older part of the hotel. It overlooked the central gardens (which were lovely) so was quiet. It was small and the air conditioner worked but was old - as was everything else in the room. The bathroom had mould on the ceiling and could have been done with a good clean and an update.

BUT

We had FANTASTIC service from the staff on the front desk and the hotel location was great. One young man in particular went out of his way to help us, giving us great directions, recommendations and a lift over to parliament after his shift finished. We would not have been able to see half as much if it weren't for him! We were only in Canberra for an afternoon (arriving at lunch time and leaving early next morning) and wanted to see as much as possible. We had chosen the hotel for it's close proximity to the war memorial so strolled over and back to it. We were also able to walk into town later that night and have dinner. Thanks to the recommendations and lift, we were also able to fit in a quick trip to parliament and floriade.

My husband and I had an overnight stay in Canberra spending all day Sunday and Monday visiting War Memorial, Museums etc Had a great stay at Olims, very quiet, clean and comfortable hotel reasonably priced - special deal on a Sunday night. Breakfast excellent in a nice setting. Close to the War Memorial and set in a lovely suburban location.
Definitely would recommend.
