We stayed at Hotel Bologna in April for 3 nights

Walking into reception we thought "not bad" but the room was a disappointed, we stayed in a Avante Room, basically a 2/3 star standard in my opinion, room was small and so was the bed, bathroom was a good size, no mini bar/fridge, we did ask for an iron, which they provided no problem and for the duration of our stay but iron had a crack

The breakfast was good and Staff was helpful and polite

Overall I would say this hotel is 3 star

First tip: ask Look Room

Location was perfect for getting into Venice, across hotel is train station and bus stop, get a train for 1 euro in Venice or Bus 2 into Venice PL. Roma where you can walk into Venice or get a water bus

Second Tip: get a travel card, a bit expensive but that way you can discover nearby Islands too

Signage in Venice is not very good, so you will get lose

The main thing to say about this hotel is that it is in the perfect location for Venice. Staying in Mestre cuts €80 + per night off your stay without limiting your experiece of Venice. The hotel is opposit the train station and it only costs €1 and takes 5 minutes to the centre of Venice. Trains leave every 10 ish minutes. The hotel is modern and clean. The staff are all very helpful. The breakfast is fab (typical continental style) and the bar is very reasonably priced. There is air con (although not turned on until May), a mini bar and a large bathroom.

We had a triple room for three nights (March 09th to 12th) and found this hotel to provide excellent value to an otherwise very expensive city.

Location: This hotel is literally across the street from the Mestre train station ( where you can take a train to Venice - 15 minutes ride) for one Euro. The hotel sells train tickets. Also, if you are flying from Marco Polo Airport, there is a Shuttle service adjacent to the train station which takes you to the airport in 20 minutes for 3 Euros.

Rooms: The design is simple, yet our room was large, comfortable and clean.

Service: Great staff, always very willing to help and provide information. They were simply a pleasure to deal with.

Breakfast: Very good selection, with many options and a large breakfast room.


Overall, if you are looking for a 3 star accomodation, I would highly recommend this hotel for Venice. You will get value for your money and will benefit from good transportation everywhere.

This is a lovely hotel. It is situated across the road from the bus stop outside the Mestre Train Station. From here you can get a bus into Venice (15 minutes). We got a 3 day ticket for 31 euros which also paid for the water buses around the city.

The hotel is completely re-furbished and rooms are not huge but they are nicely decorated, comfortable, and have plenty of storage space, seating and mirrors. The bathroom is fantastic with a shower big enough for two with a big powerful showerhead as well as body jets! There is also a large heated towel rail. We left the hotel fairly late - around 11 am / midday each day and the cleaners still attended to our room after this time.

The only issue was that the hairdryer is not very powerful and it took an age to dry my hair - not a complaint, just a tip ladies to take your own!

The windows in the rooms are lovely and big and open fully. Our view wasnt very good but that's not what we went to Venice for. The hotel bar is nice and serves cheap drinks. 1 euro ish for coffee, and around 3.50 euros for alcoholic drinks. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The ATVO bus from treviso airport stops about 200m from the hotel and is only 9 euros return. It takes 40 minutes.

If you don't mind staying outside central Venice this is the hotel for you and you can save a lot of money compared to the Island prices. We paid £ 194.00 for 3 nights through RyanAir.
