My wife and I stayed at the AVA for 3 nights in May, before travelling on for a further 3 nights on the island of Aegina. We really enjoyed our stay in Athens. The hotel was excellent, in a prime location to get to all the sights, and easy to reach great bars and restaurants further away from the Plaka area itself - the pedestrianised walkway leading up to the Acropolis and on to Thissio and beyond was just around the corner. From the hotel, Hadrian's Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus were at one end of the street and the Lisicrates Monument at the other. What really surprised, and impressed us, on arriving via Akropoli Metro at night, was how peaceful the area was, despite its proximity to everything - we were expecting Athens to be much busier and noisier than it turned out to be.
The hotel staff were very friendly, the room (on the ground floor) was a very good size with kitchen facilities, tea and coffee etc, and a chilled bottle of sparkling wine & chocolates waiting for us on arrival. Breakfast was good and we loved being able to come back after a hard day's sightseeing to sit out on the terrace and relax. All in all a very good stay and lovely hotel.
