I could never have imagined how beautiful Keukenhof is...the gardens are magificant. We got there at 8:45 am, April 19, and got the greatest parking place, just steps from the entrance. The crowds had not begun to arrive so for awhile it was like have the gardens to ourselves. By time we left at 2:45 we had pretty much seen everything and wanted to get away from the crowds. The theme this year was the Chinese Olympics. Not only are all of the wonderful colors and different types of flowers a pleasure to see, but there were places to take fun shots of our cotravelers...a bicycle with a cart of flowers on the back, very large wooden shoes to put on, house of cards...a childrens play area, the windmill which my husband climbed, canal tours to see the fields adjectant to the gardens and boats you can rent. There are
buildings full of flowers, gift shops and places to eat. We had a perfect day, beautiful weather. It should be a must for any visitor to Holland during the 8 weeks it is open.

We visited the Keukenhof Gardens in April 2008 and it is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Being a native Georgian I was fully prepared to say that Keukenhof didn't compare to Calloway Gardens. I was wrong!!! Calloway is BEAUTIFUL but Keukenhof takes a backseat to no one. the Garden is only open from mid March to Mid May every year but if you are in Holland at that time of year do not miss this spectacular place!!! We were there during the flower parade and the parade was a bust but the gardens are the best anywhere. They claim to be the most photographed 80 acres on earth and it is easy to understand why.

“Perfect place for a sunny Dutch day!”

Keukenhof

We enjoyed a day trip to Keukenhof on the 23rd April 2008. Taking the Connexion bus from the Schipol airport to the entrance gate at Keukenhof using a 'combi' ticket which could not have been easier. We started our visit with 'koffie & appelgebak' while deciding which direction to walk in. We have the most fantastic photos of the day. I especially enjoyed the 'inspirational gardens' & the area nearby with the 'Fatboy' bean bags for lazing in the sun & resting our feet! The park was in full bloom & kept in 'tip top' condition. Even though busy the park still felt peaceful & able to get away from all the visitors to 'chill'. We bought a picnic lunch from one of the restaurants & easily found a place to sit outside to watch 'the world go by'. It was a very enjoyable day until the rain came down late afternoon enabling us to get a thorough drenching while waiting for the bus to the airport but you can never trust the weather!

We visited Keukenhof on April 20. Most beautiful garden we have ever visited.

The garden is carefully planned out to ensure that the flowers blossom over the 8 weeks it was opened. Besides tulips, there are plenty of other flowers as well. We had a wonderful time there and took hundreds of photos.

We bought the connexxion combi-ticket for EUR19, which includes transport from city to Keukenhof (via Schipol) and entrance ticket. Being a Sunday, there were lesser frequency for the bus from the city to Schipol. So make sure you plan your journey carefully.

“Beautiful but expensive and overcrowded”

It really is beautiful, but 19 euros for a park with well designed flowers?! We were there on May 2 and it was ridiculously crowded, it becomes tough to enjoy the flowers when you can move without tripping over other shutter-happy tourists. Luckily I have a good solution - when you get there rent a bike instead (there is a Mac Bike shop across from the entrance) and do your own tour of the tulip fields. The Keukenhof isn't actually the fields - its a park. If you take a bike around and do your own tour, you have an open, leisurely and beautiful tour of the breaktaking flower fields and as an added bonus its inexpensive (8,50 euros). If you have the cash might as well do both and make a day of it but if you are on a budget renting a bike is much more fun and lasts much longer. Enjoy!
