The hotel is very new, and the rooms are nicely furnished and comfortable. That is the main plus of this place, as long as you can cope with the rather bright decor - the whole place seems to be done in various shades of red, pink and purple! The multicoloured neon lights in the reception / bar area complete the appearance of a brothel!
The entire hotel seems to be staffed by 2 - 3 people. The reception desk and bar are two sides of the same oval desk. Room service is delivered by the reception / bar staff. Laundry has to be delivered to the reception... and so on.
The restaurant only serves breakfast, which is reasonable but nothing special. The only other food options are the restaurant in the casino next door (had lunch there, was OK) and room service. The room service is delivered from outside the hotel, there are various options including Thai, Chinese and Burger King (!). I had Chinese one night and would not recommend it - greasy and tasteless.
There is no mini bar in the room, but there is a vending machine on each floor selling a limited selection of soft drinks, beer, wine and spirits at excessive prices. The machine on my floor did not work, so I tried the one below, which also did not work. I called for help and the reception staff (multi-tasking again!) tried the floor above which did work. A lot of hassle for a gin and tonic! The main hotel bar never seems to close... was there until 3am one night!
As mentioned in previous review hotel is a long way from town. Taxis are expensive, but the number 50 bus runs right outside very regularly and goes to the SBB central station (where you can get on a tram, train or another bus) and in the other direction to the airport. The hotel give you a card to allow you to use all public transport free of charge (all hotels do this in Basel). There is a casino next door, and the French and German borders are very close (the airport is actually in France, but this hotel is in Switzerland).
There is wired internet in the rooms which is charged. Better option is to use the free wireless which was very reliable.
I was in the hotel for a meeting, and the meeting room facilities are also reasonable. There is a gym / sauna which I did not use.
Hotel is priced reasonably for Switzerland, and is OK if you just need a bed and don't need too many "added extras" and don't intend to eat in the hotel.
