We loved this hotel. We stayed in Paris, Rome, and Venice and this was the nicest hotel we had. The staff was phenominal. They were very accomidating and made every effort they could to help us. The rooms were clean, spacious (especially for Europe), great ac, mini fridge, bed, and the bath was large. we had a courtyard view which was beautiful and made for some great shots during a rain storm.
Lastly, because I believe in looking at both sides, my down fall was the following. We were stuck in Venice with a national transportation strike. It cost us over $300 Euros and 5 hours) to get from Venice to Rome (private water taxi to get off island and then a car rental, gas, etc). I had wished we would have known prior to the day of the strike.
**side notes. When traveling from the airport dont spend the extra money on the water taxi. We took the water bus to the Madonna dell Orto stop and it was a 5 minute max walk. Easy to manuever and saved a bunch of cash $12 per person versus $95 boat ride. and believe me we had 3 large suitcases and 3 small bags and we were able to handle after a long trip from the US.
as well, we only booked 2 days in venice, Mistake. I would leave a third just to roam and enjoy the city for what it is.
Lastly there is a grocery store in Venice if you follow the main street on the walk back from Rialto to Cannaregio. We bought the best Italian bread here (and butter, yum!) and soda (In Europe it is more expensive for Coke than wine) . So we had more picnic lunches since food was so expensive. Have a great trip and definitely stay here. You will enjoy!
