We just spent 3 nights in Rome at the Domus Livia with our 4 year old child. It is on the 5th floor of an older building on Via Nazionale. It is recently refurbished and very comfortable. The room was very large - we had a third bed in there and it was no problem at all. The bathroom was wonderful. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.

I do have one word of warning, though. The staff is only there in the mornings so if you are new to Rome this will not be the place for you. There is no one around to give suggestions or arrange things after about noon each day. However, if you are already familiar with the city and don't need guidance, this was a very nice place to stay.
