Reviewer - Val from Birmingham

Just returned from a three nighty break in Cologne. Hotel was great - good breakfast, clean rooms very helpful staff. We were a group of 11 that arrived in the middle of the night (along with another 36 people!) and nothing was too much trouble. The staff changed rooms without a hitch to fulfill our wishes.

Look for McLennons Bar - 2 minutes away - over bridge and turn left. Great prices for drinks and snacks and very friendly staff.

Estata la cosa peggiore che mi sia mai capitata...essere in un albergo dove ti trattano male e che tutti si lamentono del loro stipendio...! da quando la NH Hotels ha preso la Jolly, quest'albergo non e piu lo stesso. peccato...!

Ti was the worst expirience that I have ever seen in my life.... the staff has been very badly trained and the room service was unpolite with me because I ordered a sandwich that they don't have (club sandwich) ...someone took my order on the phone and after an hour and a half I call to inquire about my meal, the employee tells me that they have no sandwich and if I did not read the menu it is my problem...he said that if his collegue did not tell me so this is not his problem....then he hang up the phone on me. after a minute he called back to tell me that if he was upset with me it was because he has a low salary and that the hotel is not giving the staff the correct salaries..... I needed to have an internet connection they charged me 25 euro for 2 hours and told me that this is what they have, if I like it or not!!!I checked out on the spot and whent to the hilton where I found myself treated like a princess.....! never go to the Jolly...you will regret it!

I stayed here for 2 nights (Mon/Tues) as part of business trip to one of the companies in the media park. The hotel was clean, with some english speaking staff, though German and Italian common throughout.

As commented before, the hotel is about 15mins walk from the centre of town (station/cathedral), though I enjoyed the walk!Some of the restaurants around by the hotel are very good.

Rooms were nice size, clean, though a colleague in one of the back rooms can be affected by noise from the railway nearby. However, I did not get the best of sleeps here. TV had selection of European channels.

Breakfast was very good, though did get very busy around 8am, when tables in the bar area were also used - service during breakfast time was a bit hectic, and ability to move around the buffet areas was limited (with narrow gangways). However, the food itself was very pleasant, with a good selection of yoghurts, cereals, pastries, hot food (eggs, bacon, mushrooms - & the usual), breads, fish and cold meat.

Checkout was also chaotic with long queues, so advise to clear the bill the night before so able just to drop off the key.

Staye here for a few nights, lovely clean hotel, with some english speaking staff. Down side is the distance from the centre of town,we ended up getting taxis 5-7 euros a time and the underground although near is very hard to work out. Also our room did not have any opening windows just air con. Found a cocktail bar just outside media park with a happy hour 4.00 euros a cocktail! the bars and resturants in media park are very pricey apart from good old Pizza Express so its better to go to the centre for a wider choice of food.
