My husband and I stayed in Le Senat hotel for 4 nights from 23rd to 27th March 07. This was our second time at the hotel, having stayed there for a few nights in 2004. The hotel was well situated, only 10 minutes from the Saint Germain area and all its restaurants, yet on a quiet, safe side-street. Our room was very comfortable with a queen-size bed, desk and chair, TV on the wall, and decent sized bathroom. The room which overlooked the street below had a balcony, and plenty of light filled the room. On a downside there was no full-length mirror in the room (perhaps more important for us girls!) and there was only one english speaking channel on the TV (CNN) as the BBC channel didn't work. The hot and cold buffet breakfast which was served in the basement of the hotel was ok, although if I were to stay here again I would pick up something in one if the many brasseries nearby. The hotel was very clean, with a modern contempory decor. In contrast to some other visitors who have provided reviews we found the hotel staff to be very polite and friendly; the reception staff were helpful in providing us with tourist maps and advised us on nearby metro stations. In terms of getting we used the Metro and found a pack of 10 tickets (priced just over Euro 10) to go a long way. The nearest Metro stop is Odeon which is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Recommended restaurants nearby include Les Editeurs and Le Comptoir (both beside the Odeon metro stop). Le Coupe-Chou (11 Rue to Lanneau) is also highly recommended. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay and would definitely stay here again.
