Four Seasons George V: the best.
My husband made me a gift for my birthday: a short holiday at the Four Seasons George V.
It has been a great experience. All has been perfect.
When we arrived there was a wonderful cake and a bottle of champagne in our room.
On top of the cake a decoration saying “happy birthday”.
A welcome card announced a good time in George V.
Our room was a superior one (n° 307) at third floor, with a nice view overlooking the Marble Courtyard.
Our room was beautiful, immaculate, quiet, spacious.
It was tastefully decorated in Louis XVth design, but had all modern comforts and amenities, for example there was a big LCD TV in front the bed, a CD/DVD player, linked to a Bose stereo system and even an iPod stereo system (Bose again) on the bedside table.
A large marble bathroom, and Bulgari bath amenities.
The George V is a wonderful hotel: every corner, every place, every situation is perfect.
The lobby, as everyone described, is amazing with marvellous floral arrangements.
The Galerie bar and restaurant, where we got a tea time and a dinner with live music playing (fantastic experience, strongly recommended) is splendid.
I suggest to spend some time into the SPA. It is beautiful with relax area, a good swimming pool with a Jacuzzi tub. The staff pampers you with a lot attentions. They bring you mineral water, and cool washcloth for refreshing your face. Free tea, infusion, and fruit available.
But the best has been my birthday dinner at Le Cinq restaurant (2 stars Michelin guide).
They booked for us the best table of the restaurant.
They have been able to surprise me and to make this day really a special day. Just to give an example, in the middle of the meal a person of the staff asked us to take a picture. Few minutes later they gave to me a nice greetings card with our picture printed inside as a souvenir. I found this fantastic.
All the hotel staff work very hard to remember your name and make you feel special.
One recommendation: choose the bed and breakfast package; even if there is no buffet, the food is good with nice presentation and you can choose between different breakfasts: French, Continental, American, Japanese, without addition.
Only two marginal remarks.
First:
we stayed in George V in March and in that moment there were works going on for a partial restoring, overshadowing the beauty of the Marble Courtyard (garden of the hotel, were in summer is possible to eat). But the nice interiors and the staff’s attentions brings you to forget about this inconvenient.
Second:
in the second day when we came back at 4 p.m. the room was not yet made.
We had to wait up to 5 p.m. at the bar. We reported the problem but nothing happened.
Final comment: the price is very high, but to be honest its worth every penny of it. The George V for us have been beyond all expectations. Maybe the best service we have experimented up to now.
