Two of my friends and I just got back from our stay at Le Blanc Spa in Cancun, Mexico. We were there from April 2-6. I have to say that I was a bit wary of staying at an all-inclusive since I had a prior bad experience at a different all-inclusive in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, which was my only prior experience staying at an all-inclusive and was my only reference point.
That being said, however, I really enjoyed our stay at Le Blanc. From looking at pictures of the rooms on-line, i was worried that the room would be small but it was actually pretty spacious. We had two queen size beds, separate toilet, separate shower and separate jacuzzi! Unlike other hotels, the pictures on their website accurately represent the actual look of the room. The resort itself is gorgeous. I loved the main pool and the pool on the third floor. Both had infinity edges and overlooked the ocean, which, by the way, was crystal blue and picturesque. The entrance to the hotel can use a little work but other than that, it's a really nice hotel. For those of you who are more detail oriented, this hotel uses good quality towels (thick and fluffy), bedsheets (probably at least 350 or 400 thread count) and bathroom amenities (i.e., beauty salon brand shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc). The staff at this hotel is very professional, polite, courteous and helpful. We asked the concierge/
butler in the lobby area (Mario) thousands of questions re: multiple tours and we were completely indecisive and admittedly a bit annoying b/c it was going to be the only tour we were taking and we wanted to make the right decisision. He was extremely helpful, patient and kind. He was also highly knowledgeable about the different tours. We ended up going on the Go Native tour to Coba, which, by the way, was very much worth the extra cost (since it was not included) if you want to experience a little bit of everything and want a tour that's interactive (zip line, canoeing, repelling, visiting Mayan temple, learning a little history, etc)
THe food was pretty good. We ate at the buffet for breakfast and lunch. Good variety but, after about three days of that, it can get a bit repetitve. We ate at the Asian restaurant for dinner one night but we really did not like it that much (we are Asian). It wasn't that bad, but, we thought the Italian was a bit better...not the best, but, better than the Asian. A real plus about the all-inclusive is definitely the drinks and snacks...the mini bar is included and fully stocked with candy bars, soda, full sized bottles of bacardi, johnny walker black and some other liquor the name of which i can't recall... The bars on the grounds used pretty good liquor as well, definitely not well-liquor...absolute, bacardi, etc. and, bottled water was readily available too! All of the drinks were well made and not at all watered down either! I'm not a huge drinker, but, for those of you who are and don't want to drink well drinks, this is a great deal.
We ate lunch once at the restaurant on the third floor...it was not good. we figured that you can't really screw up a hamburger but, apparently, you can! the meat was really processed and had a chemical taste to it...we also had the shrimp cocktail, another thing you'd figure you can't screw up, but, that was pretty bad too...
The gym had all of the basic machines (elliptical, treadmill, bikes) and weight training machines, core balls, mats, etc. and the equipment was relatively new. we also took a water exercise class that was pretty decent.
I would definitely recommend a visit to the spa. I'm from NYC and visit different spas frequently. This spa had a very relaxing atmosphere and professional services.
This is definitely a couples resort. We knew this prior to booking and did not mind it but for those of you who really want to socialize and party, this would not be the place to be. But, if you just want to relax and do your own thing, i'd recommend it. The other good thing is there were no kids! I like children but i don't necessarily love them being rowdy and loud by the pool while you're trying to relax, etc.... so, it was definitely peaceful.
All in all, i would definitely recommend staying at Le Blanc. Aside from the food, which, for an all-inclusive was really not that bad, this hotel was modern, clean, picturesque, etc.
