A trip here is a must. It is easily accessible by taking the Sabalo Centro bus. We hopped off at the Central Market which is also a must--an open air market that sells mostly food (including pig's head and feet)--there are a few stalls with tourist items here too. Then we walked to the Cathedral, maybe a block away, which is beautiful. From here Plazuela Machado was maybe two blocks away. It reminded me of a little mediterranean village with open air restaurants and colorful colonial buildings. Then we walked to the ocean and up the beach sidewalk called the Malecon which is punctuated with beautiful monuments, cliff divers, colonial buildings, and a cool sea water pool. If you go far enough up the walk you may meet the fisherman returning in the afternoon with their catch--very interesting and very smelly. This was our best day in Mazatlan.
