I had a great experience at the Hyatt. I was there from Nov. 17 - Nov. 22, 20007. The room was very clean and very large, the bathroom and closet were large also. The water temperature and pressure were great. The beds were hard, but ask any chiro and that is the best. The balcony was big, and we had a great view of the ocean. The service was great, no problems in check-in or check-out. There was a extra charge for mini-bar that we said we didn't use and they took it off, no questions asked. The pools were nice, the kid pool was perfect. Actually, both pools were good for kids. Room service was rather good. Try the "molletes". The buffet at El Ceiba was great. Check out time was at 1:00 PM, so we enjoyed the beach the entire morning before we left. Oh, and Joaquin and Tito attended to us at the beach, they were great.

I did not try the spa or fitness center, and I didn't hang out at their bars. We spent most of the time on the beach or in the pool.

Yes, it's an old hotel, it doesn't have the newest, fanciest furniture, but everything was in good shape, clean and comfortable. My only complaint were the restaurants which were too expensive. Particularly El Pescador. It is looking out to the ocean, so that may be what you are paying for. It was okay, taste-wise.

I didn't think the Cliff Divers were that great, if you do go, go in the evening, it was too hot during the day. It's one of those things that lasts 10 minutes.

I just stayed some days ago, my room was no to clean, really old furniture and floors, we found a roach, a small one but still a roach, in the bathroom the first night,
pretty difficult to obtain the temperature in the water you want, the balconies are nice and big, room is big but looks like that because fail on having enough furniture for your comfort, personal behaivor and amability is good, breakfast buffet is nice, but take care with what you choose for dinner, is not that good, and at the beach street vendors don't stop bothering you with their frequently offers, you have to pay for beach chairs.
DO NOT MAKE INTERNATIONAL PHONE CALLS FROM THE HOTEL SUGGESTED SERVICE, I called to US for 5 min and then for 10 mins aprox and my bill was $42 and $85, couldn't believe it. my score is 2, it can't be a 4 starts and defenitely it doesn't look like a Hyatt.

“Pretty Good”

The Hyatt is at the beginning of the main strip of hi-rise hotels. Its obviously seen better days, but its not falling apart either. Don't get your hopes up for the beach - its small and pretty uninviting. Best thing - the a/c worked great in the rooms - and the breakfast buffet. Warning - for some reason there are birds who have taken a liking to the pool - so skip the poolside snack, unless you appreciate an audience closing in on you. You wont want the Hyatt for things to dowithin walking distance - unless you're homesick for a WalMart SuperCenter and Burger King. Its handy for a 10 minute ride to downtown. If you get a good rate, its fine for 2-3 days.

we have stayed at this hotel over 30 years...it is still the classiest on the main strip..check in was easy,as we were on the concierge floor we proceeded to there to check in which was really nice and calm (checked us out there also with no problems) The bellman are exceptional. We did think the ladies at the main front desk at main lobby could have been friendlier. The conceirge at the lobby never seemd to be there tho.The property was kept very clean, we always saw someone sweeping up outside near the pool and inside the main lobby. The bartenders everywhere work very hard and are very very nice, kind and efficicient. Same wihth all the restaurant waiters everywhere, all work hard , are efficient and kind. The pool servers and men who help you with pool chairs and with towels seem to work the hardest while helping you in the blisteirng sun , so people tip them right!!!Our room was huge. Ever since the 2 condos were constructed in each side the once perfect views are now obstructed but since youre at the beach all day so what...we still had a nice view. We thought food on concierge floor couldve been better, but it was ok. Only issue we really had was with the housekeeping making too much noise in the hallways before 9 am that was disturbing, and the 1st 2 nights we asked for turn down and clean towels, they were a no show but we made an issue about it and for the next 8 days it happened ok! The walls are thin between rooms so we could hear housekeeping moving furniture around early in the am which we also addressed. But overall the room was kept up clean. There is an elevator to the right of the steps that go down to the pool for those with problems walking alot of steps. Really I think this place would be hard for elderly people to get around because of the size. The water sports are right there as you go down the steps to the beach. Ask for Augustin hes taken us out in his boat for a great ride for over 30 years!! Wed not recommend going in rainy seaosn, We were there while this hurricane settled out in the sea and there was just too much rain & flooded streets to the airport but we made it out...this hotel is a 10 ! go there and be nice to the pool men, bartenders and waiters they work hard!!

“Terrible. Never again.”

First, I had pre-paid my stay. I arrived and they had already checked someone in on my pre-pay. This took them 30 min to figure out & finally I was given a room on the 3rd floor. It did not feel safe at all. The glass door would not lock & the next door roof was right there. There was a door on the right side of room, I thought maybe closet, I walked through & walked into someone elses room & they screamed & I screamed & it was bad. I went downstairs & after 30 more minutes I got a different room. This one was fine. There was supposedly internet, no one could get on. The front desk was completely unhelpful. They sold me a card that still didn't work to get online. It was silly for them to charge anyway, it just made things very difficult. The location was nice & the food was okay. It just was a poorly run hotel and everything was a little run down. I would never stay there again.
