“Absolutely love this place!”

Las Cabanas de Loreto

Jul 22, 2008

I can't say enough about this wonderful place. It exceeded all of my expectations the first year I visited and I couldn't wait to go back this year! The intimate setting really makes it different from any other place I have stayed at in Mexico. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is well maintained. It is definitely in a great location within walking distance to restaurants and shops. There are bicycles available for quick trips to the store. We cooked some fabulous fish dinners on the BBQ's (gas and mesquite) and enjoyed the use of the outside kitchen area. My only concern about writing this review is that maybe I should be keeping this place a BIG SECRET so I don't have to worry about getting a room next time I go to Loreto!!

“Fabulous Experience!”

Las Cabanas de Loreto

Jun 6, 2008

We had a fantastic vacation in Loreto, Mexico!!

Our stay at Las Cabanas de Loreto was superb! The host/hostess, Linda, Les, Rick & Jill and we can't forget their cute dog Ziggy are incredible, generous and made us feel at home. They go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. The only thing you need to pack are personal belongings, they provide everything else including bikes, snorkel gear, coolers, chairs, umbrellas, large library of movies and books. Each room is set up with a small kitchenette, including microwave, coffee maker and small refrigerator. There is a small grocery store within a 2 minute walk from Las Cabanas. Actually, most everything is just a few minutes walk (bank, restaurants, shopping, food & beverages) and our favorite the ice-cream shop (La Michoacana)!

If you haven't been to Loreto we highly recommend you purchase the BEST GUIDE: LORETO: BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR, MEXICO by ALAN AXELROD, DAVID AXELROD & AARON BODANSKY PUBLISHED IN 2007. Most of the information in this book is current with the exception of a couple of restaurants. We found this book extremely helpful after we learned about it a couple of days into our stay. We were able to pick up a copy in Loreto. Of course, you will find a copy inside the book collection at Los Cabanas.

You can't beat walking along the Malecon to watch the sunrise over the Sea of Cortez! It's less than a 1/2 block from Las Cabanas. We also recommend booking a boat to tour any of the islands. We booked a trip to Coronado Island to snorkel and relax at the white sand beach. You must grab lunch at La Picazon after enjoying Coronado, it was one of the many highlights during our stay in Loreto. Linda was very helpful in booking this trip for us.

We look forward returning next year to introduce our friends and neighbors to Las Cabanas de Loreto and Loreto, Mexico. A fabulous vacation for us and many thanks to Les, Linda, Rick, Jill & Ziggy!!

“Perfect Vacation!!!”

Las Cabanas de Loreto

May 6, 2008

My husband and I went with 8 of our best friends. It was one of the greatest trips yet! Perfect for a small group, beautiful setting, wonderful combination of modern amenities and layed back small town Mexico. We grilled the fish we caught, ate wonderful fruit from the man with the fruit cart, rode the bikes to the market, visited the great ice cream store, bought cool things to bring home, and layed around the pool! The weather was perfect! Jill, Rick, Linda, and Les were great hosts and hostesses! Be sure to snorkel at Coronado and go to the beach there for the afternoon. Also the dolphin cruise with Baha Outpost was worth the trip itself. Jill and Rick recommended great places to eat and visit.

    • Disliked — I would have liked to have had a white beach closer but Coronado was awesome.

“Best place to stay in Loreto”

Las Cabanas de Loreto

Mar 9, 2008

This is a great place to stay in Loreto. The cabanas are comfortable and have coffee, hair dryer, tea, plates, silverware etc. filtered water etc.. some of the things we had to buy when we stayed in Cabo. They also have beach umbrellas, snorkle gear, beach mats, lots of videos for those cool evenings. The owners help with everything. It's literally like staying with family. Closed gate and very private. You can stay by yourself or mingle with guests. We cooked one afternoon in the great outdoor kitchen, a nice spot for visiting. You can walk everywhere and there's a little store behind the cabanas. Loreto has the best food ever! We saw lots of whales which is why we came. Next time will try later with warmer water and weather. I recommend you stay here, I looked at other places I considered but this one is the best..

“Loved, Loved, Loved Las Cabanas de Loreto”

Las Cabanas de Loreto

Feb 24, 2008

Las Cabanas is like being at home with your family, with none of the work. The hosts share their games, bikes, scuba gear, and other toys making it easy to enjoy all the outdoor activities in Loreto. The hotel has a pool with comfortable lounges for sunning and reading, as well as a great hot tub to enjoy after a day of whale-watching or hiking. It's off the busy street, a quiet oasis, but within a few minutes of the town and all the great restaurants. With seven of us in our group, teachers with limited money and resources, our yearly trips to Mexico (this is our seventh) are our one escape from kids, husbands and work. With our limited budget, we often cooked in the kitchen provided (one in every room), or ate out in the outdoor kitchen with tables, chairs, twinkle lights and a BBQ. We were definitely lucky to find this welcoming site.
