We stayed at the Comfort Suites February 16th through the 22nd of 2008. We thought it was a great bargain for the money and would stay there again; in this review I will try to outline all the major points you should know.
Firstly, when booking your stay, 99% of people ( I would think) probably stay here because you get to use all of the Atlantis properties. I know this is a review of the hotel, but to sum up Atlantis: AMAZING! Everyone is nice there, and the pools and lazy rivers are spectacular. The new area, Aquaventure, is also exciting as it houses many thrill rides-some where you don't even have to leave your tube in the lazy river to go on (a conveyor pulls you up)! The Atlantis aspect of the trip was EASILY, EASILY a 100/100. Simply phenomenal. Our taxi driver told us that the reason Comfort Suites guests get to use all the facilities at Atlantis is because Atlantis actually OWNS the Comfort Suites-whereas with the Riu, a hotel nearby, guests cannot use the facilities at all (well, at least without a $110 surcharge per person).
The rooms, as you will see in the photos attached, were VERY nice. After reading all the tripadvisor reviews, we learned that the East Wing was newer and more renovated than the West Wing-however, this is VERY FALSE. We had one room at the far end of the east wing, and one room on the far end of the west wing, and we decided that both rooms were equally as nice-however, the west wing is a MUCH closer walk to the Atlantis facilities. Anyways, the rooms are big, beds are comfortable, etc....what more could you want?
I have included some pictures of the pool, as well. The funny thing is, the pool looked nice, but we never actually swam in it-we were at Atlantis the whole day!
The continental breakfast is also a big plus-it certainly wasn't EXTRAVAGANT, but it's perfect when you just want to get a coffee/bagel/bowl of cereal quickly before getting to the park. You have two options for eating the breakfast-by the pool, and inside the East Wing. We ate at both, but preferred to eat at the one outside because the weather was nice, and you can order nicer dishes, like eggs, if you want (still very cheap).
The integration with Atlantis is really great-besides being able to use the Atlantis facilities, you also get to bill things to your room-i.e. a Jamba Juice, etc. Some places, such as Johnny Rockets (great restaurant, by the way) don't accept the room charges from the Comfort Suites, however.
It's not a big deal, but check out the photo I posted of the sign at the front desk-they actually charge you for energy-6 DOLLARS A PERSON PER NIGHT! It wasn't the actual cost of it that really bothered us, it was just that it was kind of greedy/misleading on their part to advertise lower rates and then tack on these bogus fees at the end-but whatever, it still was leaps and bounds cheaper than staying at another place like the Royal Towers!
The front desk people are all very nice, and willing to help out in any situation-in one case, we asked them for the name of a good family restaurant and they helped us no problem.
Well, that about sums up the review. It certainly wasn't a Ritz Carlton, and there may not be any world-class amenities on site, but the fact that you get access to Atlantis for a portion of the price that it would cost at other hotels is simply outstanding. I would stay here again in a second; please look at the pictures I have attached that correspond to specific parts of the review. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to message me through TripAdvisor, and I will try to respond! Thanks for reading!
