“Great Experience”

Northwest Point Resort

5 of 5 stars
Virginia
May 12, 2008

My wife and I stayed at NWP April 23 through May 1. We felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves. The drive out (3.9 km of unpaved) was always lots of fun, everything in Provo was very accessible, and Mike was invaluable in giving great suggestions on dining locations and snorkeling hotspots. The "takeaway" my wife and I had from this vacation was that the NWP staff made you feel like part of the family. Mike, Peter, and Paulette made it very comfortable - they were always there for assistance, but they also respected your privacy. The other hightlight was the snorkeling. There were myriad coral heads right off the beach in 15-20 feet of water easily accessible via one of the sea kayaks that were available. We cannot wait to go back.

“Great Stay at the Northwest Point Resort”

Northwest Point Resort

4 of 5 stars
New York City, New York
May 5, 2008

We stayed at the Northwest Point Resort from April 24-May 4th, 2008, and had a great time. The resort itself is as described by others in this forum. It is a bit out of the way, (10 min drive) but it is totally secluded and very private. This is exactly what we needed. The beach is large and expansive, but no one else is there. There is turtle grass, but it was really no big deal for us, as we had the beach all to ourselves each day we went. You will definitely need to rent a car, and you should explore the island. We went to Grace Bay, and found the beaches over crowded, and containing the same volume of turtle grass as well. Mike was very helpful in pointing out all of the more popular places and things to do on the island. We stayed in a 1 bedroom, ocean view, and had no complaints at all. You will have to hit the local supermarket (IGA) to pick up groceries, and laundry soap. No one wants to think about doing laundry on vacation, but having the machine in your unit allows you to pack 1/3 of what you would normally bring, and you do have to do your own towels. All restaurants are casual wear on the island, so you really only need to bring a bathing suit, and enjoy! In addition, we thorouoghly enjoyed S.C.U.B.A. diving with Turtle Provo Divers, and that will be written up in a separate review.

“Loved NWP Condo!”

Northwest Point Resort

5 of 5 stars
San Carlos, CA
May 4, 2008

My boyfriend and I just got back from a wonderful week in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos and we spent a great week at the North West Point Resort. We had the wonderful condo # 309 on the third floor with ocean view. Couldn't have been any better. Quite place off the beaten path (need a rental car) and wonderful for beach walks, snorkeling, soaking in the hot tub, breakfast on the balcony overlooking the ocean... The local supermarket is very well stocked (great fruit). Treat yourself to a meal at Mango Reef Restaurant. Mike the manager of North West Point was super helpful with anything you can think off. Diving with Dive Provo was wonderful as well. Great trip!

“Lovely, Quiet Hotel & Great Location”

Northwest Point Resort

5 of 5 stars
Queens, New York
May 3, 2008
3/3 found this review helpful

My husband and I stayed at the hotel from 3/22 - 3/29/08. It was exactly what we were looking for in a hotel and was perfectly described by previous Trip Advisor reviewers. Our room was a spacious, one bedroom apartment with an ocean view. Our view was fantastic; not 100% oceanfront but still excellent. The hotel is very close to the water, and you can hear the ocean from your room. Mike and Cindy were very friendly and helpful, and housekeeping was very good and as well.

The hotel is about 15 minutes from the airport, 10-15 from Blue Hills and Turtle Cove, and 25 from Grace Bay, so a car is a must. The dirt road that leads to the hotel entrance is literally only 5-7 minutes. Personally, we did not mind having to drive
everywhere, and it was worth it given the quiet and remoteness (there is also way too much construction in Grace Bay for our taste).

The beach was of course quiet and empty, and great for strolls. Only issues were the wind and the large amount of seaweed. The pool was great and you can almost always find chairs to lounge on.

Our room was big and comfortable, and the kitchen was stocked with china, cooking utensils, and a whole bunch of other useful items.

The only negative was Smokey's Cafe. We never ate there because there was never anyone there eating (not a good sign), and the staff is awful. Unfriendly, lazy, and not forthcoming about happy hour prices. Smokey's has a couple of locations, so they probably rent this out from Northwest, and therefore I do not think Northwest has much control over it. It's too bad because with a better, livelier staff it could be a cool place to hang out, especially since it is right next to the pool.

There are so many good restaurants on T&C. Casual, hang out places were Da Conch Shack, Sharkbite, Horse-eyed Jack's, and the Tiki Hut. The Tiki Hut has a great $12 chicken and ribs deal on Wednesdays for dinner. Nice, fancier places for dinner were Coco Bistro, Magnolia, Bay Bistro, Aqua, and Hemingway's. Eating out is pricy so definitely stock up your room fridge with a trip to the IGA supermarket. But when you do eat out try conch and in as many forms possible, it was delicious!

Malcolm Beach is a beuatiful spot 10 minutes away (all dirt road), great for snorkeling. Chalk Sound is pretty. Grace Bay is worth going to for the restaurants, but the shopping is underwhelming.

“The ultimate in peaceful, restful vacations”

Northwest Point Resort

5 of 5 stars
Augusta, Ga
May 2, 2008

My wife and I have travelled all over the world and try to stay at beautiful, but out of the way, uncrowded locations to savor the experience we cannot have at home. Northwest Point Resort was a very pleasant surprise...clean, immaculately maintained, well managed and comfortable, it turned out the seclusion of it all was the best part of the experience.

It is difficult to describe the feeling of walking down a secluded beach with a cooling breeze, warming sun, and perfect temperatures for an hour or more without seeing any structures or human beings, or even footprints in the sand...only a passing ray in the water, a handful of shorebirds and a couple of pelicans standing watch for a late breakfast. The experience can change one's outlook on life and is the ultimate experience in peace and tranquility. And to experience the same thing the next day walking in the opposite direction as the sun goes down. This is priceless.

We vitually had the pool to ourselves and the others we met there were very friendly. Looking back at it we were all from different places but seeking the same experience. We were all glad we had the good fortune to pick this place as a destination.

A trip over to the construction din and madness of Grace Bay made us appreciate where we were that much more. The constant racket from jackhammers, cranes, cement trucks and boomboxes made my skin crawl, not to mention the crowded beaches and beachfront diaper changing going on.

The time to go is now...I will be truly saddened when construction starts on hundreds of homes, a golf course and a giant condo complex slated for the future begins on NWP. In a few years the experience we shared will be lost forever on Provo.
