We stayed at this hotel for one night prior to our cruise. Our room in the garden wing was lovely and ultra-modern. The Staff could not have been nicer, and they accommodated our request for a late check-out. This allowed us to tour Old San Juan in the morning and check in to our ship after the noon rush.. The room was clean and quiet and we enjoyed the continental breakfast out by the pool. The staff recommended a local diner that we liked so well that we went there for both lunch and dinner. We would gladly stay at this hotel again. Our only problem was with the local bus system that wasn't running as posted, given that it was a holiday weekend.

We spent 2 days at the hotel prior to a cruise. Common areas were above average. Excellent work out room. Loved spending quiet time on the terraced sundeck by the pool. Room was in need of attention: toilet wasn't working properly, room smelled moldy, large window with an excellent view but in desperate need of a good cleaning, carpets were stained. Staff however were very friendly/helpful. Somewhat overpriced because of the condition of the room.

We arrived late in San Juan and would be leaving early the next day. We have had good luck with BW in other places, but this was not the best experience. The lobby is beautiful, but the room was dank, smelly and incredibly in need of a thorough cleaning and refurbishing. I refused to go bare foot. The smell from the AC was absolutlely awful. We could not wait to check out.

We also found that the front desk was less than helpful and on the verge of surly when we arrived. The next day, we needed a cab to get to Farado to catch the ferry. I had called the week before to check on arranging transportation to the ferry and was told to make arrangements on arrival. At check in we were told we could catch a cab in front of the hotel in the morning for about $80 The next morning, the clerk told us that taking a cab was out of the question and that we were going to need to rent a car, leave it at the ferry and pick it up on the way back. ! She then proceeded to try and find us a car. In the meantime, my husband walked outside and negotiated a cab . . . for $60. I don't know if the clerk really didn't know, or was working on getting a kickback on the rental.

Needless to say, the next time - Holiday Inn Express.

I was pleasantly surprised by the accomodations at the BW Pierre. From reading the reviews, it sounded like the rooms would be shabby. However, our room looked like it had just been renovated. The furnishings were quite nice. It is in a good location - a short walk to Condado & the ocean. The staff was excellent. They suggested we save money by taking public transportation to Old San Juan, rather than a taxi. The bus stop is right outside the hotel. I booked our room directly with hotel, after reading the hotel manager's posting on this site - I got a very good rate & a very nice room. The restaurant food was good.
