We arrived late in San Juan and would be leaving early the next day. We have had good luck with BW in other places, but this was not the best experience. The lobby is beautiful, but the room was dank, smelly and incredibly in need of a thorough cleaning and refurbishing. I refused to go bare foot. The smell from the AC was absolutlely awful. We could not wait to check out.
We also found that the front desk was less than helpful and on the verge of surly when we arrived. The next day, we needed a cab to get to Farado to catch the ferry. I had called the week before to check on arranging transportation to the ferry and was told to make arrangements on arrival. At check in we were told we could catch a cab in front of the hotel in the morning for about $80 The next morning, the clerk told us that taking a cab was out of the question and that we were going to need to rent a car, leave it at the ferry and pick it up on the way back. ! She then proceeded to try and find us a car. In the meantime, my husband walked outside and negotiated a cab . . . for $60. I don't know if the clerk really didn't know, or was working on getting a kickback on the rental.
Needless to say, the next time - Holiday Inn Express.

Dear Tripadvisor user, allow me to start by apologizing for not meeting your expectations during your last trip to our hotel. I would like to make it up to you and rectify your past experience with us. Please contact me at jcepero@hotelpierresanjuan.com. We have recently done some changes and upgrades to our hotel, and would like for you to enjoy them, this including our rooms. I would like to also apologize for the confusion at the front desk regarding the information given towards your trip to Fajardo. Fajardo is 1 ½ hours from San Juan and taxi fare is $80.00 one way - $160.00 round trip. This fare is established by the PR. Tourism Company. We usually suggest renting a car because it is cheaper ($30. to $40. a day) and you would be on your own time enjoying more, because it is harder to get a taxi back. Again, please contact me at the e-mail above, I would like to assist you in your future plans to PR. and personally meet you.
