beautiful setting....Cruise Bar was fun....it's where they filmed Cocktail with Tom Cruise and Elizabeth Shue and Brian Brown. Our suite was very nice...and felt very tropical and private.... most of the time. Only thing we didn't like was the fact that dinner was only served at a "set time" and then there wasn't much to choose from. It seemed like a herd of cattle passing by on the way to "feed" just before it was time for dinner. The last night we were there we went back to our room hungry: We didn't like the feeling of being at a church camp with (heavy smoking chaperones) in the dining room and left without eating dinner that night, thinking we could just get a snack. We were really unhappy to find that there wasn't even a place to buy a bag of chips. (The bar was serving alcohol but nothing to chase it with).
While there for three days, we drove our rental car next door to see the Blue Lagoon but as soon as we got out of the car we were met with locals peddling things. They seemed to just appear out of the brush wherever we stopped to look at anything! When we politely declined what they offered for sale, they were offended and gave us a hard time. THAT is what we disliked the most about Jamaica. Loved the cheerful colors everywhere....and admired the women who walked along the narrow winding roads in their nicest business attire.... on their way to their jobs.
