“Little Paradise in Jamaica”

Coral Cove Resort

New York

Erin and I booked coral cove from March 7-16th. We found the place using the website after being tired of the cookie cutter resorts with horrible food we decided to give it a try. We are both very busy individuals who live in New York and have high expectations but the laid back Coral Cove was the perfect medicine!

I also was looking for a very special place to ask Erin to marry me and Coral Cove proved to be the most amazing and romantic destination. They even set up a little dinner for us with tiki torches and a bonfire on the beach! All I can say is WOW! and she did say yes! Everything was perfect!

We arrived to Richie smiling and picking us up at the airport and we continued to smile the entire week. Once you can survive some of the back roads to get here than you are officially in paradise.

The setup is a but rustic and it took us some time to adjust to authentic Jamaican life but in the end we didn't want to leave. All the rooms are custom made and we highly recommend the momma bird for fantastic 360 degree views. There are beautiful hammocks all over the resort that allow you to read a book, drink a red stripe, or jamaican punch and relax. Hopefully, you can also enjoy the dolphins who made visits past the resort several times while we were there.

The food was fantastic. You can request specific items which Elaine and the rest of the team in the kitchen is more than happy to help. We woke up each day to good filing breakfast, light lunch, and well portioned dinner of jerk chicken, pork, conch, lobster, and many freshly caught fish from the village. There are also some authentic places in the village that allow for food if you decide you need something extra.

The thing that sets Coral Cove apart from the other places we have stayed while on vacation is the people. Coral coves team was very friendly while taking care of all of our needs. The bartending team is fantastic, ask lester the groundskeeper for his dance, the staff and local villagers actually look out for you and make sure you are treated fairly. You are also able to book fishing trips and local cave tours with a local fisherman named georgie who took us out and we caught a 40 pound wahoo which we all had for dinner that night.

The other aspect we enjoyed were the other people we shared the resort with while we were there. People from all over the US and Canada. There was a small group and we all enjoyed meeting up for drinks and our own social hour before dinner. We made some friends for life and can't wait to go back next year. Erin and I highly recommend to anyone who needs to getaway from the norm and wants to truly relax. Happy traveling and we hope to see you soon at Coral Cove.

“lovin every minute...”

My husband and I got married there two weeks ago. They created a very intimate yet professional atmosphere. Even though it was just the two of us they made sure every detail was just what we wanted. They were very attentive in everyway. Atmosphere, food, service,comfort.....
This was in a rather remote part of Jamaice which is what we wanted, our own private paradise. We loved every minute of it.
Everything from the correspondence with Dawn, the wedding cordinator in the weeks prior down to the bar service while chilling on the beach was over and above our expectations.
(I'm drinking a Red Stripe as I write). The food is great, the rooms are clean, the service men/women are wonderfully friendly and they work very hard. Would we go back.................in a second.

“Paradise in Jamaica”

We stayed at the Coral Cove for 5 nights after spending two nights in Negril. After an adventurous drive we came upon a property tucked into a small village far away from the hustle and bustle of Jamaica. The CC hotel offers an authentic experience in a well-cared for albeit somewhat natural/rustic ambiance. The views from decks and gathering spots offer both the direct "endless" ocean as well as water-crashing-cliffs in the distance. The staff was forever attentive, helpful and kind. The beer cold, bar music perfect and owner - Steve - truly interested in your comfort and happiness. And the food - oh the food - so amazing. Each meal was a treat and celebration. CC is a gem. If you're looking for a big resort with a perfectly maintained beach and constant influence of America and Europe, this isn't it. But if you want a more local vibe, you simply can't go wrong.

What can I say? This resort was absolutely perfect!

From the wonderful staff and excellent food, to the beautiful lodging and gorgeous landscape, this resort delivered and then some.

The staff is always there to serve your every need, even when you aren't expecting it! The food was out of this world: fresh seafood, amazing fruits and juices, and authentic Jamaican dishes that left me wanting more! In addition, the cove and surrounding waters are perfect for snorkeling and the resort has the equipment for you at no additional cost.

If you are looking for a perfect getaway and truly blissful experience, I strongly recommend spending your stay at Coral Cove. You will NOT be disappointed!

“The Perfect Wedding”

Coral Cove Resort

5 of 5 stars
Philadelphia, PA

6/6 found this review helpful

We got married at Coral Cove in November 2007, and we could not recommend it enough. If you are looking for an intimate, beautiful and no-stress experience, this is everything you could dream of. We got a weeklong package, then reserved most of the place for our family and friends (22 in all) for the weekend. We then hauled in an additional 30 people from a variety of resorts in Negril for the actual wedding day – with van transportation arranged by Coral Cove. We had rehearsal and wedding dinners, massages and manicures, a band and a bonfire on the night of the wedding, and more. It all sounds rather complicated now, but the whole thing went off in an easy, relaxed manner, with the gorgeous ocean right before us, unbelievable sunsets each night, and delicious food and drink galore.

We worked in advance with Steve, Kim & Dawn. They were able to soothe us when we got worried about making everything work and give us quickly updated plans as we progressed in making arrangements. They stayed on top of every detail and were more than willing to make the entire trip everything that we wanted it to be.

When traveling to Jamaica in November, be aware that you could easily run into air travel difficulties. Many of our guests, ourselves included, had some trouble. Most greeted adversity with a laugh (and a drink), and Coral Cove was patient, flexible and able to do the necessary quick-thinking for back-up plans.

As for us, Richie picked us up at the airport and took us on the gorgeous back roads from Montego Bay to Little Bay. We stopped at a jerk chicken hut where kids were hanging out on their way home from school. When we arrived we were the only guests and after a few hours of relaxing were served a romantic dinner out on the point of the rock, concrete & coral paths and huts running up into the sea. At the time we thought it was nothing short of awe-inspiring and amazing, but every day seemed to shatter any illusions that we’d yet had the best experiences possible in Jamaica.

Before anyone arrived the next day, we met with Dawn, the amazing wedding planner. She really took care of us. Not only did she anticipate all the essentials and get all of the little details we wanted to come off without a hitch, but she filled in the gaps of the things we didn’t think of. Terrie coordinated things from onsite as well and had an integral hand in making everything work so well.

We stayed in the Doctorbird, but saw every room and spent time in several. The Doctorbird is a smaller room than many of the others, but the 365 degree view, full ocean breeze, private patio and access to an additional shared patio with a stocked (and restocked) bar more than made it the best room there! Even without AC it had to be the coolest.

Cool things about other rooms – the shower in the Marlin is huge and its multiple open air vents make for a really refreshing experience. Several rooms had that kind of shower – it would be worth requesting. The Momma Beach is the biggest suite, with a separate room for a four poster bed – the front room definitely became a hangout space for smaller groups of our large party of wedding guests. The Starbright and the Starlight are also particularly large and gorgeous and have enormous verandas we should have spent more time on.

The food more than bears mentioning. Suffice it to say that many dishes were simply the best any of us had ever had of their kind (including the fried chicken), and others were the kinds of meals that you tell stories about. It is like having a home cooked meal made by professionals at every sitting.

Every effort was made to make the wedding day the most special of our lives including the staff building a frame for the chuppah the groom’s mother made. Donald also enlisted her help weaving plants together for the decorations. Side note here to tell you Donald also took people out snorkeling, on local tours, and refused to allow you to walk about without a drink in your hand – he was wonderful!

The wedding itself was far beyond any semblance of expectation we had. Dawn was perfect, we would have been clueless without her. We were also lucky enough to have the sunset after the ceremony be the most amazing we’ve ever seen. A bonfire on the beach, a reggae band playing and all of our closest friends and family surrounding us. It was the wedding we never dreamed we would have.

Negril feels quite close, twenty to forty minutes, and it was easy for us to find someone to take us in. Still, we wish we’d had more time to hang out in Little Bay, particularly at Uncle Sam’s, and maybe to request a tour of the local school where Donald’s wife teaches. But we plan to go back, so no problem.

Staying at Coral Cove and having our wedding there was the best decision we could have made. We give it the highest of recommendations and plan on returning as often as possible.

    • Liked — The staff and their commitment to our having the time of our lives, the resort's land and beach, the town of Little Bay.
    • Disliked — Hard to say. People had trouble with their cell phones, the water wasn't always hot in all of the rooms. All worth it and expected for the remote location.
