“Oh My Gosh!!!!!!!!!!!”

Negril Beach Club Condos

One of the most nicest places I have ever stayed in considering the plan was to spend a week in Kingston and then Negril. Lets just say Stoney Hill Hotel was our first choice, and after one night there we headed straight to Negril. Big advice make sure you look at pictures taken by the travellers. Stoney Hill turned out to be Stoney hell!!! NBCC was excellent!! I actually phoned and spoke to Doreen on the Sunday and she was nice enough to get a regular guest to vacate the room we had reserved. We had a one bed kitchnette, and I must say it was clean and all the staff were really professional. No roaches!!! In the kitchen a few sugar ants but a can of raid did the job. Obviously as in a hot country if you leave food out, you will have visitors. Our condo was on the first floor and we had a nice view of the pool and bar. the beach is just downstairs and it is very clean. We enjoyed early morning swims and if your lucky you will see fish swim around you. It is only $50JA dollers per person in a taxi to town, and you can buy freshly caught fish and cook your own meals. p.s you can loan an iron and also they have loads of books as well. Night life is great and there is alot of social activity at night. If you want to visit a club try Jungle which is about a ten minute walk away.

We decided to change things up a bit this trip and get a condo from 1/9/08 to 1/16/08. We usually stay at Shields in Negril but we had a large group with us and two of the couples were kind of on a tight budget. We arrived after dark on 1/9/08. The power was out but the staff was very helpful and gave us candles and took us to the room. The power was out throughout Negril but came back on within a couple of hours. We all enjoyed our stay very much.

Here are the pros and cons we found:
Pros
-Condo units provided plenty of room. We rented a three bedroom unit for 4 couples. The unit came with 7 beds, three bathrooms, two kitchens, and two porches. Plenty of room for a large group!
-Having two kitchens, we were able to stock up on all of our meals and drinks. This is by far the most cost effective way to stay in Jamaica a/i or non a/i.
-The property was quite large and had several amenities. It had a pool, hot tub, on site massage, souvenior shop, bar, restaurant, small grocery store, art store, and many activities going on.
-The maid service came daily and was very friendly.
-Plenty of beach chairs
-The interior of the propery had a very nice, well kept tropical garden.
-The beach is quite large in comparison to other hotels located on Negril's beach.
-Property is local friendly. We have family and friends in Jamaica. All of them were allowed on the property and in our rooms hassle free. This is not possible at many hotels in Negril.
-Good location towards the end of the beach. Bourbon Beach is only about a minute walk away for night life.
-All of the staff was friendly. The front desk, the maids, the servers, and the bar tenders all were very nice.
Cons
-Property is a bit dated. Everything is clean but in one of the couple's unit the stereo still had an 8 track player, old appliances, etc... For the price it is more than adequate though. Each unit is different as each is owned by someone else. The unit/room my wife and I shared was great though.
-We did have a semi bad experience with one of the security guards. He constantly wanted to come into the unit to hang out, drink, and smoke. He was young and apparently new. At first we were surprised he was security but let him come in as he was a nice guy. He started coming up uninvited though. My friend's wife came upstairs late one night and walked in the unit to find him there alone so we had to tell him that he couldn't come up anymore. Nothing was missing and she had left the door unlocked but he still should not have come in. I think he was just looking to party not thief but never the less he shouldn't of gone in there uninvited. Half way through the week we were informed by the older security guard that he had been let go because he had been caught doing this with many of the guests and didn't seem too interested in doing his job. Obviously the problem was addressed even though we did not report it.

Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. For a large group or someone looking to save money by eating in instead of out this property is perfect. I would rate it an 8 out of 10. Its not real fancy but very adequate and a very good value.

Booked a vacation for 8 days over X-mas/New Years at NBCC. Had read mixed reviews, so I was a bit concerned. Also, not knowing Negril at all (we are Mexico fans), this was a complete "crapshoot" for a hotel.
What a lovely, pleasant surprise.
First of all, my traveling partner recently had some serious, major medical issues. This being said, I mentioned it to Jean (the owner) via email ahead of time. Upon check in, she assurred us that a hospital/doctor were close, made sure we had the cell number of the manager, and had a ground floor room. These small things, along with checking up on us occasionally, made this place truly special in our hearts.
As we drove into Negril, we had a cell phone booked through NBCC as well. After some initial concerns about fees, all was well and we were set to go with incoming and outgoing calls. Great reception, great price. Highly recommend.
We got into our room, and were very, very, very happy. Now, for the price, you are NOT getting Sandals or a 5 star resort. But, you are getting a room with a great view (we faced the courtyard), private large patio/balcony, a staff that really cares and knows the island, a SAFE place to stay, and a great beach. Our kitchenette was well equipped with silverware, pots/pans, coffee maker, blender, big fridge/freezer and other amenities. An initial trip to the Hi-Lo and we were stocked for the week with breakfast foods and snacks for the daytime hours.
An overview of the pros and cons:
PROS:
1. LOCATION! You are at a quieter end of 7-mile beach, about one mile (if that) from town. So, no huge crowds, and walking distance to downtown (cambio for changing money, grocery store, etc)
2. Wonderful staff. The staff could NOT be better at NBCC. our room was BEAUTIFUL every morning after cleaning (even sand on floors was swept spotlessly!!!) and the front desk staff was AWESOME. Jean - we loved you and Kevin!!!
3. FOOD - though we never ate at the restaurant (seemed all buffet?), at NBCC you are walking distance on 7 mile beach from some great places. Both for quick meals, and for gormet dinners.
4. Safety. I never, ever felt unsafe at all during our stay. They monitor everyone coming and going, and have a gate protected entrance. They really know their guests. We sat on our first floor patio, sometimes at 3 am, and felt VERY safe. Also, we strolled on the beach nightly (after dark), and felt very safe.
CONS:
If you are looking for a five star hotel, this is not your place. The rooms are clean, comfy, AC works great. However, if you want the Ritz, stay at Sandals. But I ask - why waste the cash on a room, when you simply sleep there? This place has EVERYTHING - and I cannot wait to go back!
Thank you NBCC, you made our stay as wonderful as could be!!!!

This was my first time in Negril for a getaway with my best friend and
we did not want to leave so soon! We stayed at the Negril Beach Club Condos, which was at first glance questionable but overall a comfortable place for a couple of days. What we enjoyed most were the cool people we met who made our trip beyond our expectations and the serenity of sights. Rick's Cafe and the cliffs was definitely a favourite along with the many falls outside the city. Will definitely
come back for the summertime!
