“There must be somewhere better”

Knutsford Court Hotel

I am staying here now... and was hopeful given some of the positive reviews. The staff are very friendly and accommodating but the rest?

I am writing this from the restaurant because the internet in the room doesn't work. I complained about this yesterday afternoon when I arrived but the IT guy was not in. The room is grim... I had a superior room and thought they must have made a mistake and delivered me to a standard room but no... I was assured this room is much better than the standard room... so, why do I have a view of a wall with barbed wire. And, the term "balcony" must mean "a railing with 4 inches of tile."

The towels in the bathroom are tiny as is the one bar of soap. When I took a shower, I only used hot water because it was just slightly warmer than room temperature.

The continental breakfast is not much so I have ordered an omelet.

On the other hand, my room was not noisy... and the bed was fairly comfortable. Cleanliness is a mixed bag... the room is clean but the bathroom has some sort of black stuff where the floor meets the back wall.

“A great place in town for Jamaicans returning home”

Knutsford Court Hotel

My extended family and I stayed here during the Christmas holiday of 2006. We were looking for somewhere nice, clean, central to Kingston, and economical to stay, and this is it.

I must say I researched every hotel and guest house in the New Kingston area looking for somewhere that met my standards. As Jamaicans returning home, we didn't wanted our privacy (opting not to stay with relatives), conveineice of a central location, and something that met our 'spoiled' American standards. The Knutsford Court is approximately 3 blocks from the Hilton, Pegasus and Courtliegh (Knutsfords sister property) Hotels, which are comparable and much more expensive. Since it is located 3 blocks away from Knutsford Blvd (the strip) the hotel is much quieter. It is more like an Inn with an interior courtyard and hotel rooms and townhouses. If you are traveling with a large family the 2 bedroom town house with the pull out sofa is an ideal place for you all to comfortably stay.

The hotel is very quite, so if you are looking for something to do you will want to go next door to the theater, 2 blocks up to Devon House, or over to the other hotels for a drink, or to one of the nightclubs on Knutsford Blvd. The rooms are a little dated and could use some renovations and remodeling, but they are well kept and very clean. From what I saw, the hotel clientele is mostly Jamaicans returning home, and a few business travelers, so the staff are not very knowledgeable with activities as they would be if this was a resort, so you may need to do a little work to find out what are the local events.

My only complaint was that the check out procedure was a little complex.

“Nice clean Hotel”

Knutsford Court Hotel

Stayed in Jamaica for 2 weeks. Spent 3 nights at the Knutsford Court Hotel.

You get complimentary breakfast. Had that one morning and then ordered traditional Jamaican breakfast the day I was leaving. You have to pay for this though. Appx $600JA.

The pool is a bit too public so I didnt use it this year. (used it last year though!!)

Whilst I was in Kingston went to Weddy Weddy, Passa Passa, Bembeh, Asylum and Let me Loose Thursdays. Had a BRILLIANT time!!!!! Will try a different hotel next time though.

Enjoy Jamaica

“OK, but noisy”

Knutsford Court Hotel

I've stayed at the Knutsford Court hotel a few times now for business, with mixed experiences. The conference facilities are good and the service can be very friendly but some members of staff are distinctly less helpful and friendly than others.
The internet works well and the courtyard area is pleasant, although the view from the rooms facing outside is less so! (See picture). The main downside for me is that it can be plain noisy. The floors and corridors are all tiled, with poor sound insulation. The noise from people talking loudly in the corridor, neighbours' televisions and doors slamming can create too much noise to really rest properly. On the first visit, I was also checked into a room that was already occupied by a man who was startled and most unhappy to have me barge into his room. This was resolved by the front desk reasonably quickly, but with no apologies. It's a shame that there are a number of physical faults with this hotel because some of the staff are extremely pleasant and clearly trying hard to please.

“Cheap and Chearful”

Knutsford Court Hotel

Jul 2, 2007

Stayed here for 2 weeks on business. The rooms are clean, the staff are very competent. The food is ok, but not great. The pool is very public, but fine. The Gym is pretty good. There is wireless for 10US a day extra. Overall the place has a motel feel. It’s an adequate business hotel, or upper budget range, Fine for passing through, not a memorable holiday destination!
