“IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS! great resort”

Caribe Club Princess

May 2, 2008
5/5 found this review helpful

First off, I will start by saying to ignore all of the negative comments made previously, such as 'rubbish bedding' etc.

The resort is a 4star & I would agree it is a 4star. Remember, you are in the carribean, not a posh area of london or new york.
When my boyfriend & I arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at loveliness of the reception area- open, clean, cool and well equipped with a cash machine and internet services.
We were greeted by friendly staff who immediately offered us cold beverages,
Checking in was easy, and the bell boys personally deliver your luggage right to your door.

In my opinion, the room was great. Ok it didnt have luxury chandeliers or a four poster bed..but hey, your there on holiday to enjoy the beach, not there to sit in your room all day.
The rooms were spotlessly clean and tidy. The beds were extremely comfortable with clean bedding EVERYDAY and clean towels EVERYDAY if u wished.
The fridge was stocked up everyday with kool beverages by the maids, who also left very sweet designs of swans made my towels.
the A/C made the room lovely & cool when u came back from a very hot day outside. The bathroom was superb- spacious and clean.

The resort itself was lovely. The grounds are like one big secret garden with beautiful winding paths, flowers, music and the odd peacock! but they are harmless. It makes great for a nice morning/evening walk. or, if you dont fancy walking, then hop on the mini buses that stop and drop u off where u want!

The buffet restaurent- i cannot fault. They always had a great selection, freshly cooked with plenty to choose from. They even had theme nights- foods representing different countries. Anything from chips and pizza, to rice, pasta, various meats,, vegetables and dishes. The deserts were fab too- cakes, ice-cream, fresh fruit etc.
The waiters themselves are excellent too- topping up your drink with a fresh one before your current drink runs out!
While i was there, i ate in the mexican restaurent and the chinese- both were absolutely faultless- a great choice. Be warned though- u must book these early in the morning as they are very popular!!

and finally..the beach..again...i cannot fault this. Gorgeous white sand, not crowded, plenty of sunbeds where u can go and be alone. No one bothers or disturbs you, and you are absolutely fine to go swim in the sea which is beautiful.

I would definately recommend this hotel, espcially for those who are after a simple yet pleasant resort which is clean, tidy and well equipped, with friendly staff who will do anything for you.
If you are after 'The Ritz hotel' or some other posh hotel, then your coming to the wrong country for the wrong reasons. Caribe club princess represents everything about the dominican: Beautiful, pleasant, and relaxed, providing u with the perfect carribean holiday.

I gotta say this resort was great. The rooms are simple but for the families like ours that basically slept and changed there they were fine. If your looking for pillowtop matteress's and down pillows your out of luck. Our room was cleaned everyday and the sheets changed when we wanted.
The enterance was impressive and the walk to the rooms was wonderful and pretty, there is a wetlands and lots of birds. Grounds well kept, grooming was constant while we were there. This is a resort where everything is close by. We had a room on the third floor in building one and when we walked out there was the buffet, the main pool and the beach( the most important) We got chairs on the beach everyday. The people were wonderful who worked on the resort and special thanks to Jose at the pool bar who entertained and took care of us and to Stephenson on the animation team who took the time to get us to participate in activities and made it alot of fun. Look for them both if you go. The staff all gave a smile and a Hola as you passed by , take the time to do it back if you can, they work long hours which makes the effort even more meaningful.
The buffet was great and we stuck there most of the trip. The food was tasty and alot of it prepared fresh in front of you. You got sat promptly and were served drinks quickly, not that it mattered we were on vacation and not in a rush.
We had no problem with mosquito's although they were there. Just take your repellent.
The beach was absolutely beautiful, and we spent as much time there as possible. It made the whole trip worth it.
On the whole we liked the size of this resort, the proximity of the facilities, the friendliness of the staff, had no problems with our needs being met at all. There was a good energy to this place and we would go back no problem. So if you are booked or are booking you will be fine here.

“Nice Resort and Spa”

April 2008

This is my third trip to Punta Cana area. My friend and I do a gals only trip each April. This year we stayed at Caribe Club Princess, the Resort is nice, our check in was friendly, and fast. We stayed in Cayena on the third floor, our room had cathedral ceiling and balcony, mini-bar which was stocked daily and our room was always clean. There was a small language barrier at some of the restaurants.

Our (we where the only party)return flight was delayed eight hours after checking out at 0830, and getting the courtesy room was not pleasant, the female at guest services was not very nice, simply stated the courtesy room was for shower only....after four hours between pool area and lobby we again asked a very nice man on the check-in counter who was more than willing to give us the courtesy room, which had a king size bed and full bath. It was nice to be able to freshen up before out six hour flight home.

The beach is beautiful, soft white sand and crystal blue water with just enough waves. Parasailing was a lot of fun. We spend most of our vacation on the beach soaking up the sun after an extra long Atlantic Canadian winter. There are activites to do all day long around the pool area.

The restaurants where delicious, Mama Mia was by far our favorite, Mexican came in a close second. The a-la-carte works for breakfast. The creperie(ask for Delmi) was great for a mid afternoon snack. The Brazillian restaurant bar during the daytime make the best banana mamas, fresh blended not poored. The beach bar/ocean restaurant serves great quick lunches, french fries, pizza, burgers, and dogs. The lobby bar appeared to be the hot spot after 11pm. There are three swimming pools since Caribe and Tropical are connected you can go between the two resorts, the pool with the swim up bar is good, but they could use two bartendars.

The spa is a must, I highly recommend the full body aromatherapy massage the day before you leave, its just a great way to end your holiday.

The nightly shows I have always looked forward to, they are usually very vibrant and entertaining, not so much at this resort, I was disappointed.

The only negative thing I found was that for the first three days my friends and I where the only english speaking people there. Europian invasion, we found them very rude to staff and us. There smoking was everywhere and at anytime, we as Canadians are not used to the smoking and found it a very big turn off. We also had difficulty keeping our hut and towels at the beach, I have never experienced people just steeling your stuff before ever. I am thinking perhaps that Caribe Club caters to Europians, or that we picked the wrong week. I am not sure I would go back to this resort. We did have a great vacation and look forward to going back to Punta Cana soon.

“Loved the Room, Hated the Service”

We vacationed at Caribe Cub Princess from April 12th - 19th. Well I'll start off by saying that when we arrived the host asked us to leave our luggage in the front. We really didn't trust leaving them there, but we did. We checked in and since we booked the V.I.P. package they sent us to the concierge. They gave us everything we needed for our stay. We went back to our luggage and the trolly was there to take us to our room, but we were still a little confused on what or where we were going. We arrived at our room (2111) without our room key, the front had forgot to give us our key. The room cleaning lady had to open our room door while we waited for our keys. We were amazed at the view. We had a great view of the beach. Room service brought the key quickly. Well that night I was waiting to see a fight of Cotto vs. Gomez and 2 weeks prior to our vacation I personally called to make sure that they had HBO and they told me they did. To make the story short I missed a very important fight. That night they also showed us how important customer service was to them. They told us that they would send a technician over to our room and he never arrived. The room cleaning was good. The A/C was cold, worked very well. The other dissappointing thing was that from the time we got there they told us that they had Corona beer, but that they still hadn't distribute them to the bars. We asked all week long and never saw a Corona beer. The Higuero Buffet food is not very appetizing, but I guess it will do since there is nothing else for breakfast and lunch. Let me correct myself, for lunch there is snacks at El Pescador, which isn't very good either. Not all the food was bad though, all the restaurants were great but the best was El Pescador. Make sure you make your reservations for the restaurants for each evening so you can try them all. With the V.I.P. package it includes 1hour per person on the internet, 20 minutes massage per person, and one motorized watersport per person, plus a bottle of rum and 3 cigars. My wife and I definately thought that the massages were worth it. Just remember that when they say international drinks they mean Heineken and Genuine Miller. For the last thing don't go to the disco thinking you can drink whatever because that was one of the only places that we found Corona beer but they wanted 7 dollars a beer. VERY RIDICULOUS Other than that the beaches were very clean . The gardening was very well kept. The shows were ok. Hope this iformation was helpful.

“4 stars, maybe out of 10 !!!”

First of all, all the talk of mosquito's and bed-bugs. We did not personally have them but saw and heard of guests that did. I guess it's the luck of the draw for your room.

My wife came down with a mysterious rash on our second day there. It completely covered both legs and kept spreading. She had to seek medical attention on site for $400, get the vacation insurance!! It won't help you though when you go to buy sun block in CCP gift shop, $35 dollars!!!

There is no place on site to get cash, none of the excursions accept credit cards so your pretty much out of luck unless you take a taxi into the city to get cash. Even then all you can get is Peso's which actually is preferred over the good ol US dollar, it fluctuates everyday.

The food is way below average. The buffets are pretty much the same thing every day but with a twist. Your going to see hotdogs sliced, diced, fried, boiled etc. EVEN FOR BREAKFAST!!!!!

The a la cart restuarants are a little better but still nothing special.
The service is OK but the language barrier is quite a problem, if you know Spanish you'll be fine!

The bar drinks are different, the bartenders always but their own Dominican twist on your drink, you'll never have the same drink twice. So if you find a bar and your happy with the drinks, stay there!! Forget paying for the VIP, I called room service twice for American beer and never got it!! You only have the choice between Miller Genuine Draft or Heineken(which is'nt American anyway).

The rooms are plain, even VIP, the bedding is paper thin, sheets come off the bed every night. Pillows are as described by other guests, like rolled up towels in a pillow case! Everything else in the room is what you would get in a hotel, nothing special!!

The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The beach is the best part of Punta Cana. I found Americans to be scarce here though mostly Germans, French and Russian.

We did not go to the shows, did not have the massage. The internet was always down when we took the 15 minute walk to use it.

We would not go to this resort again, we may go back to Punta Cana but search for another resort!!
