Our stay was unbelievable!! I was quite nervous after reading some of the reviews on here. I was expecting horrible food, lazy staff, stiff beds, and an unclean room with nothing in the minibar. I got quite the opposite. The food was absolutely phenominal. The greatest food I've ever tasted, it's only been 2 days since we left and we miss the food so much. The staff was incredibly helpful and extremely proficient. They were always making sure you were feeling "excellente" at all times. The beds...yea okay they are stiff but I've been on harder mattresses, we didn't loose any sleep from it. The room was very clean and tidy. We had a problem with the air conditioning one evening and within 2 minutes of calling the front desk there was a guy knocking on our door. Turns out they have this great setup where if the patio door is even the least bit open the air shuts off. My husband had been out on the balcony earlier and didn't shut the door completely. Easy fix!!! The only time our minibar was not stocked is when we had our do not disturb sign out. Our trip was incredible and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. I really wanna go back on our next trip but also think I should see other places....but why mess with excellence? Oh, and when you go you've gotta try the Mamahwana and of course the Sammy Sosa and Bananamama. As for the ride to and from the airport, not as bad as I was expecting at all. I get motion sick and didn't get sick at all in the buses. The drivers were great. A lot of potholes to deal with but they know how to gently get around them. It is a long drive but doable.

My husband and I do not travel very often without our children so we really wanted to stay in a place that would meet all our needs. I have to say we were blown away from the minute we arrived. It felt like we were in paradise. We have stayed in many all inclusive places including sandals, and by far this was the best. It is the most relaxing atmosphere, so romantic, staff is so friendly and the food delicious. If your looking for loud and party people, there is an area they seem to gather. If your looking for peace and quiet, there is an area for you. Or, if you would like a little activity but still stay low key, there is an area for that too. The place is so big, you can get lost, or be involved. The pools are immaculate and enormous. The beach is gorgeous. The waiter service by the pool and beach is excellent. For the late night hunger the boxed pizza really hits the spot. Don't let the ride to the resort stop you from choosing this place. If you book your transport to the resort before you leave,(from a reputable company) the ride really is not bad at all. I found it very interesting. My husband and I do not want to stay anywhere else now that we have experienced the Excellence hotel.

I stayed at the Excellence Punta Cana for 5 nights of nothing but luxury and decadence. The grounds are not only lovely but spotless. After arriving from the airport, you are greeted with some warm hand towels and a flute of champagne...nice touch. The rooms are large with a whirlpool tub, a balcony with a table, hammock and the pool right at your feet. With so many restaurant choices, you can't go wrong with a meal. It is so nice not to have limitations with the amount of times you wish you to dine in a restaurant and it is quite a treat not to have to make reservations. I chose the excellence package which allows you access to a concierge club with snacks and drinks at your disposable most of the day. The staff was professional, courteous and very willing to serve. The Animation group was awesome in getting people involved with activities and games. Joel, Franklin and JuanCarlos went above and beyond just to ensure everyone had a great time. I will be returning here in August and recommend it highly. Keep up the good work Excellence!!!!

We loved this hotel so much we didn't want to leave. Everything was so well laid out, the shows were fantastic, the guy playing the sax was amazing, what a romantic place to spend a week. The food was good and you can always find something you like. The rooms are great but the only problem was the musty smell in the room and in our clothes which is extremely hard to get out when you get home. It was nice to have a casino at the hotel but don't get excited cause you won't win but it was fun anyway. We will try the Excellence in Riviera Maya sometime soon, hope it is as good as this one.
