How do rentals work? |
|
I know my question might seem a tad bit naive but my boyfriend and I are planning a week long trip to PR in October. We will attending a wedding on Oct. 20 in Aguadilla and he has family that we intend to visit in Florida, but other than that we are just there to relax. I have been checking out Aguadilla because that's where we will be flying into. I have seen a lot of reviewers who have suggested rentals and I think that's an idea but I have a few questions; how much might a studio cost? does it have to be paid for in full when the reservation is made? what, if anything, is the cancellation policy? Any help you guys can give would be appreciated. |

Everyone is different. Checkout PRWest.com for that area. They will usually require a deposit to hold the place, say 50%. Remainder when you get your keys. Damage Deposit varies from none to $500. That stuff is usually listed. Some take crdit cards, some do not.

There are many ways to inquire about these, many sites in internet. Some may have staff to provide service, assistance & even help out with tours. Easy as typing "vacation rental, aguadilla rental, etc." There's an owesome villa overlooking Crashboat beach with very helpful & corteous staff. Access: www.cyberrentals.com/rental/p181910

I don't think PRWest.com is a good idea...they seem to have gone out of business and have left a lot of people with no place to stay and no refund of their deposit, from what I hear. There are many sites where vacation rental owners post their properties. If you Google "Vacation Rentals Aguadilla Puerto Rico" you'll come up with many to check. Look at homeaway.com, vrconnection.com, vacationrentals.com, vacationrentals411.com As stated by other posters, every owner has their own policy. Some take credit cards or Paypal, some don't. You can expect to pay half the rental up front and the other half a month or so before your arrival date. Most owners will ask for a security deposit which is refunded after you depart. Generally, what you will get is a nice, comfortable place to stay with a full kitchen (usually) bedroom, living space, etc. for the same price as (often less than) a hotel room. Also, if you rent with another couple or family, you can often get an even better deal by renting, for example, a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment. Ask lots of questions when you make your inquiry. You'll be able to judge from the owner's response whether renting with them will be a good experience.
