My family and I will be in Pittsburgh for a family reunion. I will be traveling with my 11,5 and 2 year old daughters. Are there any good, clean hotels that are kid friendly and offer a free breakfast? Also, what sites should do you think would be interesting my kids age group?

THanks for your help!!

There's lots of places your kids would enjoy in Pittsburgh. The main ones that come to mind are the Carnegie Science Center (lots of hands-on science and sports activities) and the Pittsburgh Zoo. If they are into dinosaurs, they'll want to go to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

We have enjoyed staying at the Residence Inn Pittsburgh (University/Medical Center). It's located in a quiet residential area near the University of Pittsburgh. The rooms are suites with full kitchens, so that's helpful with kids. They offer a great free hot/cold breakfast buffet (with make-your-own waffles) and on some evenings there's a manager's reception with enough food to make it dinner. There's an indoor pool as well. (For the adults, there's a great jacuzzi and a nice exercise room as well.)

I would also add the Incline, the Children's Museum and the Aviary or Zoo. Not sure exactly where you are situated, reunion wise, but the Hampton Inn in the Strip would be one central suggestion. Good luck!

They'd probably get a kick out of the Just Ducky tour, which starts at Station Square. It's in a WWII amphibious vehicle that tours the streets of the city and then takes you for a ride on the river as well. Kids get a chance to steer while on the water.

Definitely the zoo/aquarium and the Museum of Natural History if your kids like dinosaurs.

We are working on a visit in August and plan on doing Kennywood and maybe the Sandcastle Waterpark. Kennywood has lots of rides that the 11 and 5 year old would enjoy and even some for the two year old.

I used to live there (sigh...miss it!) and have a 5 and 3 year old.

My 5 year old LOVES dinosaurs and there is an amazing display at the Carnegie Natural Science Museum in Oakland. Also, the Children's Museum is really fun and would appeal to all ages. Only problem-I have never been there when is hasn't been crowded as "all get out." The zoo is impressive and has a new aquarium.

We love the grand old hotels downtown. We always try to stay at the William Penn. It is so beautiful inside and the rooms are lush. That being said, there are some nice new hotels close PNC park. We have also stayed at the Doubletree City Centre which is a little older, but the rooms are clean and comfortable.

Take some time to people watch. It is the best city with the best people. The accents are great, the food delicious and the views in all direction are simply not to be missed.
