Any advice or help here would be greatly appreciated. Myself and some colleagues are flying through Dubai and onto Cape Town from Britain. We have an 8 hour stop off in Dubai airport before the next flight and have booked into the hotel.

However, a couple of us are on prescription medication, including co-codamol and other prescriptions. Codiene I believe is illegal over there, so what is the best way of dealing with this, if we were to get stopped and searched? Is a letter from the doctor sufficient to take? Or is it simply not legal to have it, would it get taken off you?

What is the stop and search policy like at the airport? Have read a couple of articles and it seems quite scary!

How do you know what you are and aren't allowed to take and does it even matter seeing as we are flying to Cape Town and not visiting Dubai?
