Hi

We (3 adults and 2 kids, 8yr old and 5 yr old, with 4 cabin trolley bags, 2 handcarry bags) will need to hail a taxi to get us from Ocean terminal after a cruise to Novotel Citygate. Can anyone please tell me (i) roughly how much will this cost (2) are there bigger sized taxis that can fit us all in and if so, how can i prebook this and (3) is it true that only the Lantau taxis can be hailed to get us to Novotel Citygate ? Many thanks !

You should be fine in 1 taxi.

From Ocean Terminal, you can only hail a RED (urban) taxi. No other kind.

From there, to Novotel, it would be approximately $ 300 and under, not including the cost of how many bags you put in the trunk. ($ 5 a piece), and toll charges.

It would be about 30-45 minutes to there, depending on traffic, and how fast the taxi driver drives.

I recommend for a more comfortable ride, pre-book a car who can pick you up all the way in the pier when you get off the cruise, you can get in the car from where you reclaim luggage..... much better than dragging kids and luggage out to Canton Road or Star Ferry area to catch a taxi.

Thanks for the replies ! I would prefer to pre-book a driver too but problem is, with cruises, you can't really tell what time you will eventually disembark (my recent experience was an almost 2 hour delay between arrival time and when we finally got off the ship !) and hence, very hard to tell a driver what time the pick up should be.

If you have a mobile phone that you can dial to the driver, when you dock. The driver should be near Ocean Terminal at 8:00am (that's when your ship dock?).

You call, he comes into the pier.

Just make sure you get the sticker luggage tags that is "independent".... then you can get off as early as you want to.
