euro2008 _Comment |
|
I have just read one of the best euro2008 comments and I would like to share it: "...anyone who prefers white wine to Carlsberg Bier will be expelled behind a high fence..." This of course refering to the extraordinarily intelligent idea of building high fences around the fan zones. Tak |

Even here in Alaska, I listen to Wogan! It was a great day when I discovered I could get a webcast every morning. I might even get interested in football if Wogan commented!

i must say after all this is really a fun event and the press as usal made it worse than it is! at the weekend i was in davos in a "non-official" public viewing zone drinking heineken beer and now i just came back from lunch in the fanzone in zurich. there are hundred of romanian fans (and a few french), partying, being friendly and just having a good time. you cannot compare it to germany two years ago but so far i am positively surprised (except for the actual results yet of course!). in this context HEJA SVERIGE! cheers, bowmore

I am so pleased that you're able to enjoy the events and the fans! Isn't it fun when people gather, have a good time and don't create a bad atmosphere? I will never forget the Lillehammer Olympics because of that exact atmosphere - it was one big, happy party celebrating sports and people! I'm sorry about the Swiss captain - what a shame.

I agree with Bowmore - the event is much better than expected. Huge crowds here in Zurich, but all in a friendly athmosphere. Of course way too much commerce, but at least outside of the public viewing zone there are lots of foodstalls and bars operated often by small companies with enthusiasm. And you are even able to get different beer brands. No fences around the non-Carlsberg bars as announced in the press... I was one of the lucky guys who could attend the match yesterday here in Zurich. Even if the game was boring and the France football team disappointing, it was a very positive experience. I couldn't see any signs of racism, violence or even insult, like it's often the case in games of our national football league. Especially the fans from Romania supported their team very enthusiastic but in a fair way. Overall a great ambiance!
|
Until now it is a very peaceful athmosphere. No violence, respect towards the opponent's fans ( including their anthem). That's the way it should be. Hopefully it will continue that way.

Hi Oller, I couldn't agree more. It has been fantastic. I'm just back 1 hour ago from a great trip. Tak and her good husband showed me some fantastic Swiss hospitality. My friends and myself have had a wonderful time. Tak, if your reading this, I will call you soon. I need to shower and order my dirty washing into the machine. I have a saying about my washing. If I throw it against the wall and it doesn't stick to it, it can't be that bad. Alas, it's sticking to the walls! Only joking.

Switzerland is alredy out, after two matches. We set new standards! Even in losing... :-)

Why are all these drunk fans in front of my house screaming (singing?) O-weh! Schwiitzer Nazi??!
|
hey Roy, as you saw we lost horribly yesterday and are still trying to recover. What a pity. sniff sniff... the party will go on however, not on the roof(it was scottish weather yesterday :-) and probably will be the next days) but in the living room. we still fly both colours on the window.
we enjoyed a lot having you here, peter most of all who could discuss other things about football (with me it usually is about haircuts and colours of the dresses etc.-well at least I discuss these-peter just nods) say hallo to everybody and I will email you today. @oller and the rest of the gang: no roof-viewing because of the weather, I hope that the sun will smile during one of the next games and we can gather again. Tak PS: @sanfranzisko-basel: no idea why some drunken people would sing “O-weh! Schwiitzer Nazi“ unless they were singing: "O-weh (ache) – Schwiizer Nati" referring to the heartache we all feel here, since the Schwiizer (swiss) Nati(onal) team lost yesterday against the turkish team and now has not a snowflake's chance to go to the quarter finals.

Hi everyone Yes, we try to give our best and be fantastic hosts. And what is a fantastic host supposed to do? Let the guests win ;-) Honestly: It was hard to see the Swiss team losing, and especially in this way. But this is typically Swiss IMO: we are specialists in honorable defeats! But let's try to keep the party going - hopefully we are gonna see some spectacular games and can enjoy watching them together with cheerful fans from all over the world!
