We'r two norwegian girls heading down to enjoy euro08, but finding accomodation at a reasonable price seems to be easier said than done :S

So if anyone has any tips that could help i would really appreciate it:)

Yes Basel is the hardest place to get a room. Here is the link to accomondation part of the offical website.

http://www.euro08.basel.ch/en/accomodation

A website for private accomondation during the euro08 is www.sleep-in.ch

The Swiss public transport is unique, so you could also stay in a nearby town or city. There will be special tickets for euro08 visitors. www.sbb.ch/en (timtables), mct.sbb.ch/mct/…euro08-fahrausweise.htm (euro08 transport passes), www.swisstravelsystem.ch (other transport passes)

checked the sleep-in website. it is amazing how much some people try to charge for a bed, what a rip-off! i hope that people in switzerland come to reason and allow a football party as the germans did during the world cup and not only try to make money out of it..

cheers,

bowmore

Yes, many people, specially in the Basel section ask for weird prices. I guess they are spoilt by those companies that offer them horrendous prices if they rent their appartement during the Baselworld. Prices are not always clear, some offer an appartement for the hole euro! And there are so many, that don't see the euro08 as their personal gold mine. They are the real football fans, and will be what people will remember of this great football party.

If you go to Bern part you will see that most people charge fair prices (0-30 CHF per person, 0-50 CHF for a room).

i have also an ad on sleep-in for the euro in basel, but i don't do it for the money (staying with me and my girlfriend is free). i just want to show our guests the beauty of basel and help them have a great time with us. i mean what could satisfy you more than make people happy and giving them a great time in a great city! ;) i think everything that's more than 30.-- per night and person is too much!

Lory

I'm coming to the euros with 3 of my friends from Scotland and we have managed to get cheap rooms in hostels in Basel, Bern and Zurich.

The link below might help you.

http://www.youthhostel.ch/city.html?&L=1

Good luck as they are getting quite busy.

hi, i also found this link:

http://www.apartments-basel.ch/

i checked the sleep-in site and ithink most of the prices are very ok, many times meals and washing is included. i mean we were in Scotland recently and we the less we payed in a b&b was 20 pounds pppn.

and the expensive ones are offering like a whole house with a swimming pool or something.

another place to look at is maybe the YMCA?

http://www.ymcahostelbasel.ch/

and then this one: http://www.baselbackpack.ch/

i found this last one in internet, I do not now it at all...

Yesterday, 3 additional camp grounds got the definitive approval. Accommodation for an additional 2'500 fans.

Have a look:

the hire for a tent for 2 persons is CHF 80.--.

I would choose Pratteln as camp ground, as there is a direct connection to the stadium and the city with tram no. 14.
