Hi
I will be in Switzerland in 3rd week of May . Could you please give me an idea about what sort of temperatures to expect and thus what sort of warm clothes to carry :- 1)for the cities bern, luzern etc and 2) for visiting the mountains Schilthorn and Jungfraujoch. Also, as I will be backpacking I would prefer not to pack heavy. All help will be greatly appreciated, thanks !!

hi, at the moment it is a about 20 degrees celcius during the day and about 10 degrees in the night. on an altitude of 3000 m (e.g. Schilthorn) there are still minus degrees! Later in May it should be a bit warmer but who can predict the weather nowadays. I would take a light rain jacket / windbreaker, t-shirts and pullovers and if it gets colder specially in the mountains you just can wear several layers which should keep you warm enough as long you don't want to spend hours outside.
