We will be staying outside of San Gimignano this September, for a month, celebrating our 40th Anniversary.

We will have a car. We love to tour, to eat and to see everything. Any suggestions?

What should we be sure to buy in Tuscany or in Italy? What is a BEST BUY? Are there special places to get great discounts or knock-offs.

Re: eating. We aren't big budget people so we are not looking for five star places just places with character and good Italian food.

My husband has learned Italian by tapes and he is eager to practise when we get there. (Sounds good to me!)

Looking forward to living 'under the tuscan sun".

Lucky girl! I can only dream about a month in Tuscany. Wishing you tons of fun. Volterra for alabaster and Colle Val d'Elsa for crystal.

Gubbio or Deruta for beautiful ceramics/pottery. Gubbio is a lovely town to tour, too. But be prepared to walk uphill. Best eating at very small, family-run places. Read the book "Too Much Tuscan Sun" before you go.
