My boyfriend and I are going to San Gimignano for a wedding in September. We're on a bit of a budget, but don't want to stay somewhere too shabby.

We'd like to pay around 60-80 Euros per night for a double room for two people but I don't know how realistic that will be.

Does anyone have any advice/suggestions?

Hi Nadiapopoff,

If you are staying for at least a week, look into getting an apartment not a hotel, will be alot cheaper. Staying outside of San Gim. would be cheaper too.

Ciao

If you are staying for a week there is a company based in Suffolk called La Bella Toscana who we have used on a number of occasions. They rent out villas and apartments, many within the town itself, for Italian property holders. The service that they have provided us has always been excellent and the staff very helpful. Try to google them for full details.

Thank you both for your replies.

I have actually been in contact with Sangi Apartments and they have available an apartment called Alice at €65 per night, which sounds incredibly reasonable.

I can't help but wonder what the catch is though. The pics look nice but it's difficult to tell as they'll only put up ones that make them look good.

Has anyone stayed there or know of them?

Thanks,

Nadia

I've never heard of them but i've had a look at the reviews on them and they seem fairly positive. The location seems to be very good, very central. What you'll find is that the apartments will probably be quite small and traditional. It is unlikely there will be 50" plasma tellys, ceiling to floor glass walls or lifts within the building but it will probably be quaint, cosy and really really lovely. I would go for it. Wish I was going back anyway!

Thank you. I'll take your advice. It certainly looks quite sweet. It's only 6KM from the wedding venue and they are being helpful over email.

Have you got any tips for where to go for a beach holiday in Tuscany? We're flying into Pisa and have about seven days before heading to San Gim.

Looking for a mixture of campaign and hotels for accommodation.

Thanks again,

Claire

Hi Nadia!

I suggest you to go to the Casa dei Potenti, in San Gimignano. It is cheap, comfortable and they have good service.

Try it and you will not regret!

Greetings,

Caterina

The only beach resort that we've been to in Tuscany has been Viareggio which was for 1 day during Carnivale. That was great fun but i don't know what it would be like for a holiday as such. It has a lovely sandy beach and an amazing backdrop with the mountains but i'm not convinced that there is a great deal to Viareggio in general. If you have a very early flight from Pisa consider spending a night there. Once the day trippers leave Pisa is a really vibrant city with few overnight tourists and the area around the Leaning tower is fantastic at night when all the lights are on and most of the tourists and souvenier sellers have gone home.

sorry I cannot offer any more advice about the beach areas.
