Hello,

I am planning to travel from Florence to Rome and then Rome to Venice via train. I know that there is no need to buy the tickets before I leave the States. I plan to take the ES trains second class. My question is are the seats assigned or can we sit anywhere we want? I get car sick easily and cannot travel backwards. Any advice or tips?

Just came back from Florence. We took Eurostar from Venice to Florence, and all the second class seats were assigned seats. We disembarked our cruise in Venice on a Saturday, May 17, and bought our tickets when we got to the station. There was no need for advance purchase at that time, as there were plenty of trains.
