Following the motorway Palermo-Catania, as far as the exit for Gerbini, we pass the Etna villages of Santa Venerina and Zafferana Etnea to a height of about 6.175 feet. Visit to the Silvestri Craters. Possibility of ascent by cable-car and Land-Rover to the proximity of the central crater (supplement to be paid locally). Stop for lunch. Departure to Taormina and visit of the Greek Theatre. Free time for shopping, and return to Palermo . CST tours always look good on their website (although prices don’t include entrance fees), but they don’t respond to emails and they don’t answer phones. Palermo is not the best base for tours to Etna. Here’s a listing for companies running excursions around Palermo from Palermo’s Tourist Information: www.aapit.pa.it/datad/natura/report.asp… In addition, you could customize excursions.
