Has anybody got any advice on the best way (affordable way!) to get from the marco polo airport to the san polo district?

Several choices. Cheapest is the ACTV No 5 scheduled bus service taking c. 40/45 minutes to Piazzale Roma. You do not say whereabouts in San Polo you wish to reach but several water bus landing stages in San Polo - Rialto markets, S.Silvestro, SD Toma - all served by the No 1 water bus route. Tickets cost 6.50 euros. See www.actv.it for routes and timetables.

The ATVO express airport coach also goes to Piazzale Roma and is a litle faster - c. 20/25 minutes but costs 3 euros.

Depends which part of San Polo,San Toma stop could be nearer, if your flight is earlier in the day there is an Alilaguna ferry that goes to the Rialto from the airport ( Arancio line) €12.

We stayed near the San Toma stop in San Polo and found it an easy walk from Piazzale Roma (where the airport bus drops you off). 10 mins walk max, which will be quicker and cheaper than the ferry.

mpoll,

I quite agree, it is not far, we stay around there and walk it, but if you are new to the area its not that straight forward,
