I also posted this query on the Venice Forum hoping to get some answers from the local experts!

We'll be staying in a hotel close to Santa Lucia train station and plan to go to Padova for a couple of hours visit to St. Anthony de Padua Church. Once we get to Padova, where could we find the bus which will get us to the Church? And the return bus to the train station? If you have a step by step direction, I really appreciate getting that info from you. Thanks in anticipation.

There is a relatively new tram that goes from the train station with a stop at the Basilica of St. Anthony. You can return by the same method. The tram leaves the train station every 8 minutes.

Buses 3 11 12 13 16 18 22 43 all go very near to del Santo (as the locals say).

A ticket good for 75 minutes after you board the bus costs 1 Euro. An all day ticket costs 2.70 Euro.

You can also take a taxi, or even walk (about 1 1/4 miles)

jjrehder,

This is a good option. So where do we pick up the tram? I mean when we get off the train, where do we go from there? Is there a street name? Thanks for this new info.

The buses and tram stop right in front of the station. You can't miss it when you walk out.

Also, there is a small tourist information center in the station where there will be someone who speaks English.

I like your idea of combining walking and riding. Padova is a great town for walking with lots of cool stuff to see.

Have fun!

Sounds pretty simple! I think it's really worth a trip. Thanks much.

Also, there is a bus ticket booth in the main lobby of the train station if you need it. I think the tram may be free.

Hi Giojellini -

Actually, my trip is not until July. You're going there first!

I've been to San Anthonio de Padua Church three years ago. I still have vivid memories of what I saw and it has been one of those that I will cherish. I'm a devotee to St. Anthony so the experience strengthened my belief in him. We also went to the S. Chapel.

Our time was limited so we were not able to do more sightseeing around Padova.

Enjoy Padova! Have a wonderful trip. Don't forget to report back on TA.
